Devil in the details:Plot foiled by whom?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060209/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_19;_ylt=AsrSl2i3qCMMI9GZCwrXSPJqP0AC;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

Okay so Bush claims credit.

Wait a darn minute:

snip~
The president said the plot was derailed when a Southeast Asian nation arrested a key al-Qaida operative. Bush did not name the country or the operative.

So..no arrest by Southest Asian nation..attack not stopped. So who stopped the attack again?

snip~
Bush has been on a campaign to defend his controversial domestic monitoring program. But the White House would not say whether the 2002 plot was thwarted as a result of the National Security Agency program to eavesdrop on the international e-mails and phone calls of people inside the United States with suspected ties to terrorists.

Bush said only that "subsequent debriefings and other intelligence operations" after the arrest of the unnamed operative led to information about the plot, and to the capture of other ringleaders and operatives involved in it. Hambali, for instance, was captured in Thailand in 2003 and handed over to the United States.

"It took the combined efforts of several countries to break up this plot," the president said.

So..after the arrest they had the info. So even if they are spying like mad they still aren't stopping a damn thing. If this is all true we have the unamed southeast nation to thank..not Mr. Unitary Executive.

But we all know, the information that sticks is: Bush saved Los Angeles from another 9/11. Don't stop spying now! Terror terror terror.....

2. Bullshit, it was the flight attendant who caught Richard Reid who
"foiled" this "plot" because after that they started checking shoes at airports.

Why should we believe anything * says after all his lies?

Why can't everybody just accept what he says and be really grateful and quit with all the suspicion and everything? Geesh!

5. as pointed out in the article, Shrub has been actively trying to
defend his illegal spying program. The problem with this latest fable is that none of the characters were actually in the US. I don't think that any of them were even citizens. Guess that story was meant for the God and Guns crowd again.

6. I've heard so much of this speech was BS
The tower he refferred to LIBERTY TOWER it umm. . .doesn't exist! It is called the Library tower.

Under the plot, the hijackers were to use shoe bombs to blow open the cockpit door, take control of the plane and crash it into the Library Tower in Los Angeles, since renamed the US Bank Tower, Bush said. In his remarks, Bush inadvertently referred to the site as "Liberty Tower," and immediately afterward, the White House corrected him.
