(Hillary) Clinton Accuses Bush of Playing the Fear Card
From the Sun Sentinal (Florida)

WASHINGTON -- Ignoring GOP criticism that she's too angry for prime time, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton Wednesday walloped Karl Rove and President George W. Bush for "playing the fear card" on terrorism and for failing to kill "the tallest man in Afghanistan," Osama bin Laden.

"Two weeks ago, Karl Rove ... was telling the National Republican Committee 'Here's your game plan, folks, here's how you're gonna win -- we're gonna win by getting everybody scared again,'" Clinton said. "This crowd 'All we've got is fear and we are going to keep playing the fear card.'"

Saying she takes "a backseat to nobody when it comes to fighting terrorism," Clinton accused the White House of portraying critics of Iraq and Afghanistan policy as comforting the enemy. "Since when has it been part of American patriotism to keep our mouths shut?"she said.

Bravo Hillary! If she keeps this up I might have to change my mind about her 2008 Presidential bid.

:applause:

5. This thread was dropping like a rock.
Maybe it's old news, but it's the first time I've heard her speak so forcefully against the Bush Cabal.

Thanks for the kick. :hi:

20. May be because this has been posted at least 6 times since yesterday
As she barely said something interesting, may be people are more interested by real issues, like the PATRIOT ACT.

13. Where does she say, and credit goes to John kerry for these
talking points? Senator Kerry has been saying these things for some time now. Where was the party to back him up when he said them, where was the media?

I'm just relieved to see ANY Dem call Bush out on his perceived "strengths." Her statements hit him where it hurts, that's what counts.

18. I dont care if she uses his lines.
But it is so Hillary to attack him on not being tough enough, but using the same lines he used during the campaign. Count on Hillary for that.

17. Good news - better late than never.
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 05:00 PM by Mass

Clinton exhorted Democrats to challenge the administration on Iraq, Afghanistan and the war on terror, while seeming to bemoan the failure of former Democratic presidential candidates John Kerry and Al Gore to overcome claims that they were soft on defense.

"We've lost two elections and we lost them on the issue of security," Clinton told the United Auto Workers convention in Washington. Republicans "are doing it to us again," she said.

Note to Hillary:

In addition, saying again and again that the Democrats are weak on defense simply reinforces the Rovian meme. So, she wants to show that Democrats can be tough on defense, the best she can do is to be tough, not to attack other democrats.

22. Oh, boy! It must be mainstream to criticize Bush now!
Once Hillary jumps on the bandwagon, you can be sure this is the way the winds are a-blowin'.

It's too bad Kerry, Kennedy, Dean, Durbin, Feingold etc have been saying this for 2 or 3 years now. I think not catching Osama bin Laden has been Kerry's talking point since early 2004. Where was Hillary then? Oh, yeah, she was still trying to kiss Bush's ass and pander to the middle. Amazing how quickly her tune changes when she realizes that if she doesn't win the liberal base, her candidacy is going nowhere.

Hillary is the very definition of a panderer. Gag.
