Winter Olympics, powerful Italian message
Susan Sarandon, Isabelle Allende carrying the flag, Yoko Ono speaking, Peter Gabriel singing "Imagine"...

probably not Laura's guests at the WH....

7. Thanks, I will see it 8 hours later
I forgot you were in France, they show it here delayed for a prime time audience. I'm in the Pacific time zone. :hi:

5. Yes, they can. They tape delay it by HOURS.
I am hoping the Canadian station replays it later. They were showing it live at 10:00 a.m (and they don't show commercials, either.)

6. Ah yes, we here in the US may NOT get to see it, tonight on NBC,
but the rest of the world gets too.

8. (Spoiler question...)
Is today's opening as beautiful as Lillehammer's was?

Thanks for the heads up on the performers -- I'm anxious to see if NBC downplays them in any way.

11. Pickles, again!
I'm getting sick of that smiling Zero representing us all the time all over the world. Could she be more insipid? The fact that she has remained married to a madman is enough for me.

12. Looked up more about the flag carriers
http://sport.monstersandcritics.com/othersport/article_1096640.php/Opening_ceremony_of_Turin_Games_gets_underway

For the first time the Olympic flag was to be carried into the stadium by only women: Italian actress Sophia Loren, Chilean writer Isabel Allende, Moroccan 400m hurdles Olympic champion Nawal El Moutawakel, actress and UNICEF ambassador Susan Sarandon of the US, Kenyan 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai, former Italian cross-country skier Manuela di Centa, Mozambique 800m runner Maria Mutola and Cambodian human rights activist Somaly Mam.

Nicely done, Italia.

:applause:
