I am strongly opposed to the conservative movement that has gained power in this country, as are most of us here. Now that the right wing controls all branches of government, including the Supreme Court, it is easy to get discouraged. But it is still extremely important to remain active. We may not be in power, but we can still do whatever we can to make it as difficult as possible for the radical right to accomplish their goals. The right would call that "obstruction". I call it damage control. The hardcore conservative movement, in my opinion, is dangerous and destructive when it comes to core American values such as freedom, equality, and civil liberties. By doing whatever we can to stop them, we are protecting America and all that it stands for.
The best thing we can do to hurt the conservative movement is to take back power in 2006. However, another excellent way to damage the right wing is to support groups like the ACLU ( www.aclu.org ). Even with the conservative Supreme Court, the ACLU can still accomplish a lot. The right wing wouldn't despise them so much if they weren't a threat. I have even read on a conservative forum that a right-wing Supreme Court wouldn't be enough to stop the ACLU from achieving some victories.
