http://www.lavendermagazine.com/artman/publish/article_2021.phpLast fall, Lavender reported on the adoption of the first “hurricanine” from the Animal Humane Society. A depressed and bedraggled Pomeranian named Paris Hilton was taken in by a Stillwater couple, Michelle Elliott and Carolyn Davis, who originally were looking for a bigger dog to be a companion to their poodle, Jesse, and two cats, Doby and Yoda. The traumatized Pom had lost all her fur, and had a terrible injury on one of her legs.
Now—just a few months after her adoption—you’d never know it. Thanks to Davis and Elliott, and the homeopathic remedies of Dr. William Jones, Paris’s fur is almost completely back (though she still likes wearing coats and sweaters), and she has finally adjusted to living with cats.

Though Davis and Elliott only can speculate about Paris’s history, Elliott points out spots on Paris’s ears that might be signs of a past piercing. “She is a Mardi Gras girl. She loves beer—anything that goes pssssss!” Elliott remarks, miming opening up a can. “She likes to sleep late, and the whole thing. She’s a party girl.”
Where a straight couple might hang pictures of their children, Davis and Elliott sport a gallery of handsome dog portraits— a family history of every pet they’ve loved and lost. As Elliott puts, “All my maternal instincts are completely fulfilled by these animals. I don’t feel like I’m lacking anything. I don’t know why that is. Are our hearts bigger than anybody else’s? I would hope not. They’re just spoiled rotten, each and every one of them. They’ve got it made here—like it should be.”
