I gotta wonder if a newspaper in the South published a cartoon mocking Jesus would a mob burn thaht building down? I remembe readaing a freeperesq board (libertypost I believe) thte other day where one person made a similar comment, and another reeplied thatt it's about time Christians got just as pissed against blasphemy because that would teach a lesson to the evil in Hollywood.


After all some of these Coulter types do advocate violence against others' prroperty and lives. It seems like it's only a step away from her and the type that burns an embassy down over an offensive cartoon.

Amazing I know. It was called "Hatred" by Willard Gaylin. In it he talked about how leaders of extremist groups who speak in no uncertain terms about committing acts of violence against enemies legitimizes those acts for the masses who subscribe to those views. IMO, no different from what people like Coulter are doing.

A boycott of the paper would probably happen, advertisers would pull ads, and then the editor and the cartoonist would lose their jobs in order to make up for the offense and gain back the lost readership.

there would almost definitely be a boycott and pulling of sponsors, maybe a rally organized by a church or two, but I seriously doubt there would be any violence.

There is no Qualitive difference between Christians or Muslims when it comes to religious offense on this issue. Judging by past activities(OKC, Atlanta), I would say it is highly likely that any newspaper that published such a cartoon would be burned to the ground, with the addition of the possibility that the editors/cartoonists will get death threats, at least.

Anywhere in the US and you would get violent protests, possibly even riots outside the place of the publisher. The Cartoonist and newspaper would get death threats, and the place would probably be bombed if the police choose not to enforce the law to forcefully, which is a distinct possibility.

That assumption is just plain ignorant. As far as I can tell, the idiots are spread pretty evenly around the country. (Wasn't the guy who walked into the gay bar last week and started shooting and swinging an ax from Massachusetts?)

This wasn't really meant to bash the South.

A violent event by any sort of extremist could occur anywhere.

BTW, I agree the spelling looks awful. The keyboard I'm using is a POS and letters seem to repeat constantly. I'll use the spell check from now on.
