There the corporations can have it both ways, cheap labor and no regulations abroad and take advantage of the American laws, infrastructure and markets which they don't pay taxes for. The center of gravity of the top American corporations, particularly manufacturing is moving overseas. Domestic debt is necessary to fuel this transition because it is accompanied by a decreased standard of living and greater and greater disparities in the distribution of wealth. Finance is now a greater and greater part of the economy and this includes the mortgage and debt business. There will be a reckoning sooner or later because this marks a decline in our nation. Export of capital and manufacturing and preoccupation with financial endeavors characterize powerful economies in the final stages of decline. The top one percent who don't pay their fair share or care about the "national interest" don't care because they have built a huge defensive moat of incredible wealth around themselves.
