With Ann Coulter you should only expect a bad stand-up comedian with a conservative schtick. That's what CPAC attendees got today. My expectations were low, yet she proceded to go below them. She referred to Muslims as "ragheads." She went farther than calling for Justice John Paul Stevens to be poisoned. Muhammad is depicted as a historic law-giver on one of the court's frieses. Coulter wanted Muslims informed so they would burn down the Supreme Court. But just before that happened someone would call Justices Roberts, Scalia, Alito, Thomas, and Kennedy. She's right when she said, "Our ideas ought to win." Too bad for Ann she doesn't offer any. Bad jokes sell books (unfortunately); they don't persuade voters.

UPDATE: The reaction to Coulter from CPAC webloggers has been negative. Tom Bridge is "going to go be ill." Her words don't help the conservative movement at all. posted the entire "raghead" quote.

1. Compare the tepid reaction to Ann Coulter's dangerous, threatening

and racist statements to the rightwing reaction to the Rev. Lowry's truthful statements at Coretta King's funeral.

Or to the arrest of Cindy Sheehan for wearing a tee shirt with the number of dead soldiers on it.

Why do we tolerate this?

I think the time has come to put a stop to this once and for all ~

I can't believe that even Democrats have reacted with such timidity to this woman going around threatening SC judges and liberals etc.

Someone needs to sue her, like Max Cleland, eg. If nothing else, she would be under oath and would have to publicly retract her lies about him.

And why has no one investigated where she gets her funding.

Also, why is she allowed to lie about her age on her driver's license? Isn't that a felony? I don't get it. Anyone else would be in serious trouble were they to do this ~

4. I linked to the American Mind site noted above. Damn, that was scary.

It was every stereotype we've ever created of the radical right come true. People screaming about how anyone who doesn't support the annihilation of "ragheads" is a wimp and should be shot for it. One freeper actually posted a comment expressing his disgust with the racial slurs and other atrocities on the site and made the observation that they were playing into all of the stereotypes people have of conservatives, but he was (of course) immediately denounced as a terrorist sympathizer. I know we can get a little hot-headed ourselves, but the anger and fear that comes from the right is amazing. I once read a fascinating piece (probably at DU!) that pondered why it is that the bushies remained so angry, even after their 'victory' in 2004, and the writer's idea was that much of the RW really believes that they are trying to do God's Work, but they can't avoid seeing how bad everything is going; they control 2-and-a-half branches of the government, so they can only aim all of their hate and frustration at Liberals for standing in God's way.
