To my Christian brothers and sisters who support this administration
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 12:52 PM by Skidmore
(Bear with me, my fellow DUers, for this is a message that needs to be said and in the manner in which I speak it.)

I want to speak to you who believe that Bush is sent from God and that what he has wrought in this nation is the work of a godly man in a way you will understand. Particularly I want to speak to the evangelicals and fundamentalists among you. This is for those of you who have left your prayer closets to make a spectacle of yourselves shouting "yea" in the public square. This message is for those of you who have forsaken the message of Christ for the tawdry, commercialized Walmart version of the faith.

Do not speak another word about "culture of life" and how this administration is in because God wants there. Do not speak another word about the events of these days are occurring because Christ is prepared to return. After watching the hearing on Katrina this week, it became evident that this "God sent" president and his administration elected to drag their collective feet in responding to Katrina, and as a result is culpable in the murder of hundreds of our own citizens. This administration that says it knows what family values are and can speak for God was culpable in the ripping apart of families in a desperate situation--a large number of whom have yet to be reunited. This Christian administration has turned a blind eye to those left destitute and homeless as a result of this natural disaster, and a deaf ear to those who have asked assistance with salvaging their lives. And then they lied about it. They dissembled and hid their sins for what they have done to their fellows is a sin and a shame to Christianity and the nation.

It is not unlike the destruction and lies that they have sown with the war in Iraq. What honor and glory is there is razing a city that was already destroyed? The blood of the sons and daughters of this nation are on your hands as you support the great lie that began this war. The poverty and destruction that has been sown in the name of God will be a millstone around your necks for you have not understood that nothing good comes from hatred and fear.

I say to you that this is not of God. God is not the author of lies, nor does he countenance the liar. When Christian leaders and their congregations countenanced the first lie from George Bush and his administration, they led you down the crooked path. They have joined an ungodly man and brought disgrace to our nation and to the Christian faith. I beseech you to look inward and examine yourselves. They have brought you to a place where you have been taught to worship power, material goods, and corruption. They have set themselves up as prophets and are nothing but false ones.

I beseech you to pick up your Bibles and read the sections that are the words of Christ, not the commentaries written by Paul and those who came after. They are interepretations of the words of Christ. The meaning of the word, Christian, is one who follows the teachings of Christ. Christ taught forgiveness and humility. He taught that peace and longsuffering were goals. He taught that wealth is corrupting and that you do to the least among us as we would have ourselves to be treated. Do not read the thunderings of the old Testament God for the teachings of Christ were the new covenant with man. Do not set yourselves up and arbiters and judges of your fellow man. Judgment is the Lord's alone and as you judge so shall you be judged. Do not set yourselves up as hasteners of the endtime. Did not Christ himself say that no man knows the day or the hour of his return? You are your brother's keepers and those you forsake now and whose blood is spilled in the name of the power and the unholy alliance you have struck with corruption will cry out to God. On this you will be judged in this world and the next.

Return to your prayer closets and spend time within. You cannot continue to serve both God and Mammon. You cannot set yourselves up as God.

2. K&R... Fantastic post.. Thank you for posting this.. I just hope that
the lurkers and the fundies read it. You said what needed to be said, and you used all the right language.. Fantastic post. Have you thought about posting this on a religious website or message board? I'm sure there are many lurkers on here that will read it, but I'd post this in as many places as I could if I were you. This is a great post, and it needs to be plastered every where that the fundies frequent.

12. I don't know any, but I'll go look.
If I were you I'd ask Greenpartyvoter.. She has a site I believe, and if nothing else she could defiantly point you in the right direction.. I'm a little busy right now, but I can go try to look up some sites for you a little later.. I don't particularly like going to religious sites, but this post needs to be seen.. I'll let you know what I find in a couple of hours.. In the mean time, why not see if you can get a hold of Greenpartyvoter..

http://www.servehim.com/

I just found them on the web, if some of the sites are "loony" I apologize.. I'm not advocating anything at any of these sites.. I just wanted to find some places fundies may frequent so you can post your post, and teach them a thing or two. I asked my fundy cousin about sites, but she and the rest of my family aren't hooked up to the net yet.

3. Jesus would help the poor and infirmed
not cut more funds for their programs. He would suffer the little children to come unto medicaid, Bush says let's cut off more funding for the kiddies, including headstart programs.

It is his new leave every single fucking child behind policy and one day, God will appear to Bush and I think Bush is not going to like it very much..........

6. In the words of James
1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

2:2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

2:3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

2:4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

13. The problem is that you're NOT talking to christians...
you're talking to sheep who follow nutjobs who CLAIM to be christians. Studies have shown that the average athiest actually knows the bible better than a lot of the so-called christians. The fact that they willingly follow men who are quite often the epitome of the 'money changer in the temple' pretty much proves that.

14. Here's their dirty little secret...
they don't read the Bible anymore. Oh sure they claim to be superspiritual and all that, but it's all a facade. They like the entertainment the churches pump out every Sunday and the catchy tunes and light shows, but the Bible? You gotta be kidding. The closest they come to reading the Bible is the Purpose Driven Life and The Prayer of Jabez.

No wonder why so many blindly follow Bush, they are willingly deceived and DUMBED DOWN!!

On the whole though, good commentary, thanks for posting.

18. Revised. How's this?
To my Christian brothers and sisters who support this administration

I want to speak to you who believe that Bush is sent from God and that

what he has wrought in this nation is the work of a godly man in a way

you will understand. Particularly I want to speak to the evangelicals

and fundamentalists among you. This is for those of you who have left

your prayer closets to make a spectacle of yourselves shouting "yea" in

the public square. This message is for those of you who have forsaken

the message of Christ for the tawdry, commercialized Walmart version of

the faith sold by barkers on the television urging you to purchase

God's mercy and compassion and some trinket for a donation. Men who

profess to know the mind and heart of God, condemning their bretheren

while living in debauchery and craven gluttony in splendor paid for by

their followers.

Do not speak another word about "culture of life" and how this

administration derives its authority from the will of God. Do not speak

another word about the events of these days are occurring because

Christ is prepared to return. After watching the hearing on Katrina

this week, it became evident that this "God sent" president and his

administration elected to drag their collective feet in responding to

in a desperate situation--a large number of whom have yet to be

reunited. This Christian administration has turned a blind eye to those

left destitute and homeless as a result of this natural disaster, and a

deaf ear to those who have asked assistance with salvaging their lives.

They have abandoned the sick and the dead and have not assisted people

with reclaiming the bodies of their loved ones. And then they lied

about it. They dissembled and hid their sins for what they have done to

their fellows is a sin and a shame to Christianity and the nation.

It is not unlike the destruction and lies that they have sown with the

in the name of the power and the unholy alliance you have struck with

corruption will cry out to God. On this you will be judged in this

world and the next.

Return to your prayer closets and spend time within. You cannot

continue to serve both God and Mammon. You cannot set yourselves up as

God. Therein is your salvation and the salvation of this land.

21. Excellent Post!
I hate to admit it but with exception to my sensible husband, I married into a family of so called christians. God love them and I truly mean that because they are some of the most misguided people I know. I have called them out on numerous occasions for some of their hate and hypocrasy. So far it has only caused bitterness, but I hope if I continue to plant the seed of truth that they will see the light. What concerns me the most is that they may try to infect my children with their darkness. Its obvious to me that a lot of what they believe is what their parents believe. I have it firsthand that ignorance breeds ignorance. I have no doubt that they equate Bush or any other so called christian republican with their so called superior christ-like values. Pretty scary.

24. Retaliation and Revenge
“You have heard the saying ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy’. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Then you will become children of your Father in Heaven. For he makes the sun shine on the evil and the good alike. And sends the rains to unjust men as well as just men.

You have heard the saying ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth’. But I say to you, don’t resist evil with evil. If someone strikes you on your right cheek, turn the other one to him as well. And if someone wants to sue you for your coat, let him also have your cloak. And if someone forces you to walk a mile with him, walk with him for two miles. And don’t ignore someone who wants to borrow from you, but if you are asked for something give it away.” - Jesus Christ

Nowhere does it say “Take out the SOB before he gets you.”

But the question I have is; Are these your brothers and sisters in Christ?
So your brothers and sisters in Christ constantly and consistently do just the opposite of what Jesus taught?
They almost insist on everyone praying in public places when Jesus taught that only the hypocrites did that.
They insist on having a culture of killing when Jesus was so much against it.
They honor the god of Mammon as jesus warned them not to do.
Are they really your brothers and sisters in Jesus or the sons and daughters of Satan?

If you don't mind I'd like to make copies of this to pass around, and also email. A most excellent work, Skidmore, and it would be really powerful delivered. We need more liberal - and moderate for that matter! - Christians speaking up and speaking out about the wrongness of this * administration.

I don't care how much they tell me he's a "good Christian", if you look at his actions it is clearly obvious that they are those of a man who has used his very nominal, casual faith to manipulate and divide americans, and to pursue policies that betray everything Christ lived and died for. Whether one believes in "the Anti-Christ" or not, I believe it would be accurate to describe * and his administration as acting as if they are an anti-christ.

revised one though. I'm sorry about the change in format. I copied the original one to my notepad to edit, used the word wrap and when I put it back in, it did this doublespaced thingy that I don't know how to correct.

Everyone who would like to use this, feel free. There is so much going on in our nation, that proprietary rights are unimportant. May be we should print up something like religious tracts and pass them out.
