LTTE "Franklin's words bear repeating" Montgomery Advertiser, Alabama

Franklin's words bear repeating

Dr. Randy Brinson calls for the Alabama Legislature to authorize biblical teaching in public schools, a tacit admission that Christian churches fail in this. Funny, I don't find in my Bible that Jesus asked the political authorities of his time, Pilate and Herod, to promote his teachings. But I remember what he said in Matthew 22:21 and John 18:36.

Dr. Brinson summons as supporters for his cause supposed luminaries such as Vonette Bright, Chuck Colson, Ted Haggard and Leland Ryken. I would call up instead Dr. Benjamin Franklin, who said "When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself, and when it does not support itself and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one."

John H. Napier III
Ramer

Napier made an excellent point with 142 words.

2. excellent point --churches failing in their mission so they call...
on public schools and civil authorities to do their job. That should be hammered home every time they start this crap.
