Why Don't Neocons Make Movies Propagandizing Their Bullshit?
Instead of pissing and moaning about "our" movies? Something tells me even they are not stupid enough to think people would actually watch them, let alone win any awards, anywhere. Just musing here this morning. Have a good day:)

1. They don't have to...
... they have the news media to do their propagandizing for them.... Besides, have you seen Ron Silver's acting? It's as ridiculous as his politics. :)

4. Good Point, But Still,
it seems to be an avenue that is closed to them, regardless:)

8. Well, look at it this way...
... what do most of the really conservative actors thrive on--formulaic movies (look at the entirety of Arnold Schwarzenegger's, ahem, body of work). That's the analogue of Republican political thinking, which is now profoundly dogmatic and ideological.

If you want creativity and originality, who ya gonna call? Republicans?

2. For one thing they have numerous fictional shows that reflect their
point of view on tv. But, what makes you think they haven't? Think back to Arnie and True Lies.

3. They do, but they're not as popular.
Michael Moore Hates America and Farenhype 9/11 come to mind. They don't seem to really break into the mainstream.

16. True, and those are the "Non-fiction" movies...
If you want to expand to the fiction movies, the ones that are not formulaic and end up being box-office smashes and classics are invariably those that have a viewpoint that is either liberal or very moderate. I bought the movie, Kingdom of Heaven when it came out, and its excellent, I don't know much about the specifics, but the way the Saracens are protrayed is not only fair but also accurate, as one example. Other examples that are even more heavy handed in the liberal field would be political comedies like Dave, Bullworth, and The American President. Even movies that are supposed to lampoon both sides actually still talks about the liberal viewpoint, case in point is another comedy, My Fellow Americans.

This isn't limited to just comedies, along with Kingdom of Heaven, there are movies like Three Kings, Apacolypse Now and Full Metal Jacket which heavy critisize jingoism in American Culture. Also I can't forget mentioning another comedy, a movie that is a favorite for me, Good Morning Vietnam. Most movies with "conservative" themes, in other words, simplistic thinking on good/evil, rich/poor, usually fail at the box office, partly because I think that when they get too heavy handed they show the sheer ugliness that conservative thinking brings out, and people, on a personal level, actually don't like that. Other than that, conservatives produce fluff pieces that have practically no message to think of.

5. There are plenty of movies that catapult the propaganda.
We just don't even recognize it as propaganda. What they want is a total eradication of alternative world views, which is why they find any contrary view coming out of the hollywood dream factory so threatening.

10. Stealth Movies on the History and A&E Channels
These people have hold of so very much that is under the radar.
But the History Channel and A&E have been filled with Made for TV
Bullshit. I believe both are Owned by NBC companies. The pentagon network
of choice. Tim Russerts show, Meet the Press has Boeing as a sponsor.
I guess that means his target audience is people who buy airplanes.

14. because it would look so pattently ridiculous
and rather than work as propoganda (selling, than reenforcing an idea) - it would work as smelling salts... waking more folks up to how patently ridiculous the policies of the far right really are.

15. Well, they do, just not very well. The Rambo movies, for example,
especially the sequals. The Rocky movies (especially the one where he boxes the Russian guy). "Red Dawn" was oozing RW propaganda, and even "Risky Business" contained shots at environmenalism and has an "anything goes" mentality so long as money is involved.

These were Reagan-era movies, I know; there was "True Lies" during the Clinton years, which appalled me when I saw it. I'm sure there are others, even today, but I don't get to see many movies today beyond those that I really want to see (lack of time and money makes it so).

17. walker, texas ranger...
for years i've wanted to mention this show which i saw during clinton era.....it starred dick 'norris' or something, an ersatz version of horny shwartzenegger....it was only episode of the show i ever watched, but it concerned a youth in a school of some kind- the kid was getting into trouble or something. So the star, Walker, was giving the boy advice on how to live his life w/out the misery of trouble, and he said, in effect, that to be a good decent human being, and do duty as citizen, a person must always 'obey the law'...it was freaky, like a crack in the facade of normality, or something....(i recall another show where Robert Blake starred as a inner city priest, and some bad guy was killed but it turned out the bad guy not guilty of crime he killed for, but the priest said 'that's ok, he was a bad guy and it's good he's dead'...this on comm. tv during prime time! wow) a 3rd show i saw that it seems should have caused some anger or something was an episode of 'golden girls' in which the maude character's son, a tall good looking guy, brought home a black woman whom he wanted to marry. the problem was, she was 2wice as old as the boy, and ugly as a born agin xian! The show was about how the woman's family was violently (and humourously i guess) opposed to the interacial marriage, on racial grounds, as if they operated in some kinda otherworldly conceit! it was one of the most hideous things i ever saw on tv, but it said everything the rulers of our society were thinking (remember how dan quayle's complaint over a single woman have a baby in murphy brown? yet all this other stuff were never mentioned by the pigmedia, and the fact was as a merchant sailor gone away all the time i watched relatively little tv, so can only imagine what the psyche op assholes were routinely doing)...tv is a psyche op, and very few notice that...no wonder geeb (brother of john ellis bush, or 'jeb') is emperor of the Screwnited States....

18. "JAG" actually had Ollie North on as a "special guest star" during
the Clinton years. Also, I remember once when I was channel surfing in the late '90s, I came across an episode that actually spliced stock footage of Clinton talking on the Oval Office phone into a scene where an incompetent woman ambassador is supposedly talking to the White House.

Even "Law and Order" jumped on the anti-Clinton bandwagon during the Impeachment...they had an episode in which a lesbian White House staffer was murdered, with connections to someone in the Clinton WH, I believe. The show opened up with a family of tourists in NY looking for a bathroom and the mom says it should be named after Clinton, or something like that.

19. so let's not complain about geeb (bro of john ellis bush, or 'jeb')
since geeb obviously represent the usa better then martin sheen or any idealized idea of who could be prez, bush, even if unelected, REPRESENT US, every one of US! better then ronald macdonald or wee wee herman, or ted bundy....period. end of debate. The proof is no one does anything to resist, and our whining just entertains the enemy (i guess 'i' should take out a local mediawhore, but....what difference does one pig mean?)
