GOP castoffs are spilling the beans
my Sunday paper made me jump for joy this morning! I just had to share all the good news.

http://www.sptimes.com/2006/02/12/Columns/GOP_castoffs_are_spil.shtml
<snip>

Brownie is talking to Congress. Scooter is talking to a grand jury, and Jack is talking to reporters. And what they are saying does not exactly follow the White House script on Katrina, the corruption in Washington or the leaking of classified information by White House officials to make the case for going to war against Iraq.

Former federal disaster chief, Michael ("You're doing a heck of a job, Brownie") Brown told a Senate committee on Friday that he had notified top White House and Homeland Security officials "we were realizing our worst nightmare" on the day Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans. Brown's testimony is at odds with the White House line that the president's men didn't realize the extent of the damage until the next day. "Just baloney," Brownie said of that official claim.

<snip>
This is an administration that has gone after government leakers who have exposed secret CIA prisons overseas and warrantless eavesdropping at home. The president says leaks like that could damage our national security, and he may be right. Libby's leaks, of course, were considered good leaks. They only helped pave the way for a war that has become a quagmire.

Let's hope Scooter and Brownie and Jack keep spilling the beans. Compared to this trio, Jimmy Carter is a sanctimonious bore.

!!!!!!!

8. if you close your eyes; listen to the words... you can travel back in time
leaks. leakers. investigations. hearings. eavesdropping. quagmire.

it's been said before a million times better -- but it still amazes me how this transports me to being a kid watching the news and the watergate hearings with my parents.

leaks. leakers. investigations. hearings. eavesdropping. quagmire.

damn, i'm 6 all over again.

11. The problem with "volunteering" somebody to be the fall guy
The Bushies are so used to loyalty that they assume that their people will be loyal, no matter what.

Nixon's people thought the same thing, and volunteered John Dean to be the fall guy. They didn't think it was necessary to ask him. John Dean didn't appreciate being volunteered that way, and the rest is history.

The Bush junta is many times worse than the Nixon administration. Hell, at least Nixon came to power after winning an election. There are many more scandals in the Bush junta than in the Nixon White House and more serious ones. What can be more outrageous than lying the country into an unnecessary war for the benefit of war profiteers?

Did they really think that everybody they volunteered to be the fall guy would just take it laying down?

41. I think Osama look-alike has already reported for duty
I followed a link to Anderson Cooper's excellent story on the missing Katrina rebuilding money and read a blurb that a "poor quality" Osama tape has been broadcast on Al Jeezar and the CIA are looking to see if it is the real thing.

New Orleans: The Missing; Mobile Homes Not Reaching Victims; Owners Reuniting With Pets Months Later, While Many Are Still Missing; Fugitives Missing; Insurance Problems

Aired February 10, 2006 - 23:00 ET

ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Here, where I am, in this house, an empty damaged home. Just one of the many parts of a vibrant city that are still missing.
ANNOUNCER: Five months have passed. August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina slams New Orleans in the Gulf Coast. Hundreds of thousands of lives, unimaginably changed forever.

And now, tonight, no one would have guessed it could still be so bad, that so much and so many people would still be missing. Housing, medical care, businesses, loved ones -- so much still missing, so many promises still not delivered....

33. Will they stand united, stand tall, get tough?
If so, I think you're right. Toss in a compare and contrast between BushCo's attempt to sack a sound Soc Sec, and the need to stop the ballooning debt -and you have shown a sound fiscal policy.
Middle America would go for that.
God, guns, and gays -are the issues Republicans will try to sidetrack us with.

Don't get me wrong - I'm happy that the GOP is turning on itself.

However, there have been so many times when I've thought - "There's no way they'll get away with now." Only to have nothing happened.

21. Who was that guy that testified that he got home and turned
on his tube after not being sure if the flooding in N.O. was just hype, and well--there sat a guy sitting in the French Quarter drinking a beer! That guy seemed pissed and acted like it was a excuse for not doing anything.

To me, whatever dimwit 'Brownie' is or isn't---he came off in the hearings more believable then the other guys.

24. I listened carefully to Brownie.
He appeared to be an intelligent person but in the wrong job. He was out of his depth and was begging for help which he didn't recieve. The RW Corp. Media tried to cast him as stupid. He is not stupid. He took on a job that he was not qualified for and he now knows that and seems to regret it. The Bush Regime is evil, as well as incompetent to manage the USA.

31. NO! No balls, this is just self preservation..
I've heard the statement many times, "I'll support you, untill it becomes you or me. Then...I'm sorry but I'm saving myself!" That's all you're seeing here, and I'm sure we've not seen everything yet!

There's a 600 page report to be released on Wed. that is supposed to be extremely critical of many in the Katrina tragedy. Gergen & Will both said several heads may be lost over it. As I understand it, the one BIG gun who's in the crosshairs is Chertoff. He doesn't seem like the type who will just sit back and take all the blame either!

I'm telling you all to get some spare popcorn!

40. Scowcroft saw the light while the rest hid in the dark:
http://ffip.com/opeds081502.htm
<snip>
Saddam's strategic objective appears to be to dominate the Persian Gulf, to control oil from the region, or both.

That clearly poses a real threat to key U.S. interests. But there is scant evidence to tie Saddam to terrorist organizations, and even less to the Sept. 11 attacks. Indeed Saddam's goals have little in common with the terrorists who threaten us, and there is little incentive for him to make common cause with them.

He is unlikely to risk his investment in weapons of mass destruction, much less his country, by handing such weapons to terrorists who would use them for their own purposes and leave Baghdad as the return address. Threatening to use these weapons for blackmail -- much less their actual use -- would open him and his entire regime to a devastating response by the U.S. While Saddam is thoroughly evil, he is above all a power-hungry survivor.

38. Rove's fuck you policy seems to have blowback
now some of Bush's best buddies seem to be getting the cold shoulder.

Bush and Rove expect total 200% loyalty, but when the fryer gets a little hot and I'm talking a low setting of 2 on the fucking warmer it's...

who, never heard of him, I meet lots of people, I shake hands with thousands, he was probably some dolt in the rope line..

none-the-less, many of Bush's friends are starting to feel slighted if not hunched over in agaonizing pain as a fucking 12 inch sheeve is sticking out of their backs.
