Reports indicate that Cheney did not give his victim any reason to suspect he planned to shoot him; that it was a fairly accurate shot, considering the range; and that he hit him in the middle of the back. For years, people have snickered that Dick didn't have the balls to fight in Vietnam, but I guess this shows a different side of the normally cuddily VP. Asked why he didn't shoot any of the game birds they were seeking, Cheney snarled, "I had other priorities."
