Freepers thoughts on "gunner dick" ..... full melt down!
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 06:08 PM by Botany
They still haven't found a way to pin this on Clinton or Ted Kennedy

I think everyone who is an avid wingshooter has been peppered on occasion.

I've only been peppered from a distance, and i only did it once to someone else myself. it was during quail season last year, I was actually shooting a cottontail that was sprinting up a hilll. Littie did I know that my buddy was on the other side of said hill. I hit the cottontail, but some of the shot peppered my friend on the other side. Oops. :) Since you're from AZ, you might even know the area - it was in the high desert between Jakes Corner and Punkin Center?

What part of AZ are you in? I live in Phoenix - unfortnately only got out a few times this season, but I did manage to take the limit in doves once.

"Nothing like the sound of buckshot ripping through the leaves to get 'yer attention."

Musta been hunting Big Bird if they were using buckshot! :)

10. Mr. Magoo?
I read somewhere that the original Mr. Magoo was a hard-line right-winger, a real jerk, constantly talking about rugged individualism and other right-wing mantras. Of course, Mr. Magoo was drastically toned down and turned cuddly over the years to the extent that GE felt it was safe to use him in their advertising.

6. Now we know why so many freepers avoid military service.
We wouldn't have an Army left. A few have served though, there have been a number of "friendly fire" incidents. These idiots really take it for granted!

7. Guess what--I've hunted all my life and never been "peppered"
nor, to the best of my knowledge, peppered anyone else. Hunters I know haven't told me about being peppered either, although I admit I never did a survey. Lord spare me from having any of these FReeper idiots hunting anywhere near me.

11. "Peppered?"
That's one hell of a euphemism for shooting somebody.

14. Jack Pine (Pinus banksiana)
Same here .... I have never been peppered or peppered somebody.

My Yellow Lab (made 13.5 years) had some shot in him but i think that came from
a "sick bastard" .... and not a hunting accident.

What ever county they are hunting in I want to be 2 counties away.

16. "Peppering"
is not a rare occurrence (although I wouldn't call it common either).

It usually happens, at least in my area, when a bunch of hunters are surrounding a field during a dove hunt. If they aim just right (or wrong as it was), the shotgun pellets reach the apex of their flight, and descend into a potentially populated area. Its happened to me once (in 30 years of hunting), and almost every frequent bird hunter has been peppered a few times.

That being said, that's the reason dove/quail you use a wide choke with small pellets "birdshot". Just about any time of winter jacket will block the pellets.

All of the above being said, what happened with this idiocy seems -- well idiotic. There were 2 hunters, and they were only 30 yards apart? This was asking for trouble -- and indicates a poor knowledge of good hunting safety.

18. Well sure
I think we've all shot a man on occasion. Heck I killed half my family in an unfortunate lawn dart incident in 1977. I'm sure everyone has done something similar at one time or another. Dick Cheney is no different than any of us. As usual DU is out of touch with average Americans!
