8. The snow stopped hours ago
but temperatures remain below freezing, so the runway could have been slick.

supposed to fly home to phoenix this morning. when i heard the weather predictions i told him he better try to get out of there saturday. (the wedding was friday). he got a 6:00 pm flight last night but it did not take off for almost 2 hours. they had to keep de-icing the plane. he thinks he got the last flight out. we lived in new york and we hate it now -- so it would have been a bitch had he gotten stuck there another few days. it was 79 here today.:)

the newly married couple were supposed to leave for italy today for their honeymoon. doubt whether they made it out.

11. i know where you live. i lived in queens and i would go out
that way shopping. i would take rockaway blvd (is that the name of it) where the street lamps get real small because of the low flying planes? i remember a plane crashed there -- touched down on the road and then bounced back up and crashed. it was terrible.

Plane Skids Off N.Y. Runway; No Injuries

NEW YORK (AP) -- A Turkish Airways flight skidded off a runway at John F. Kennedy International Airport Sunday, but none of the 198 passengers were injured, a regional transportation spokesman said.

Turkish Airways flight 1 skidded off the runway at 9:20 p.m. as it was landing following a record-breaking snowstorm, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
