Did anybody see the Washington Journal this morning?
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 11:40 PM by FreedomAngel82
They had one republican guy and a democratic guy running for Congress. The republican guy was very smirky and had that very prideful look on him. He wasn't rude or anything like that but he still had the smile that turns you off. Of course he's from Texas so he thinks he's going to really win. The democratic guy (Andrew Horne) was very poliet and just answered question's that came to him. And with the republican he was asked how he could be a democrat and he said that Bush will be an assiate to him and than turns around and says he's ready to get traditional republicanism back to Congress. Less spending, government out of people's lives and "traditional" family values. :eyes: The democratic guy talked about how the people were getting fed up with the republicans and he's just going to do the old fashioned campaigning and grassroots efforts. One republican called in and talked to Mr. Horne about how they visited with their rep about the Iraq war and they refused to listen and he said he was very excited about Mr. Horne since he too has a long line of military people in his family. The host asked him who he voted for in 2004 and the guy said "someone who wasn't a republican." Horne said the Congress should be independent and should be asking question's etc. It wasn't too bad and you should try to check it out on the archives at http://www.c-span.org Oh and if you go to 27:25 a republican guy calls in about, guess what? GUN CONTROL! Just to Horne and not the other guy. :eyes: Oh brother! Out of all the things to worry about he asks about GUN CONTROL and the NRA!!! OY!
Horne said he just thinks we should follow the laws we already have. The other guy, his last name is Taylor, said he was pro-gun and he joined the NRA at age sixteen (can you do that??), bought his first rifle at age eighteen, he and his wife both own guns and go shooting in their backyards Sunday morning (what no church?). He's a big defender of the second amendment and will fight in Washington to ensure that our freedoms and rights are not infringed upon (gee I'm sure he's anti Roe v Wade too).

7. You're welcome
It's pretty good. He does pretty well and he answers all the question's and I haven't seen him dodge any like Taylor. Taylor has his talking points of course. 9/11, war on terror, post-9/11 etc.

4. Don't smirk at Gun Control...
That repug caller brought up the one thing that most Bush voters hold very dear. A huge number of voters believe that the Dems want to take their guns and it's their #1 issue with Dems. It's something we need to address or we can just write off 20% of the voting population.

5. There is SOOOO much else to worry about than owning a gun
There's health care, jobs, illegal immigration, public education, illegal spying. I mean good grief. GUN CONTROL? And than the guy asked Horne's opinion of the NRA. :eyes: Oh brother. I thought Horne handled it well and I think he's like how Hackett is. The second amendment is a law we already have in our Constitution.

8. Oh I totally agree...
I'm just stating what I hear from "regular guys". Lots of them. We've got to make them realize that we believe in the Second Amendment more than the Repugs do.

9. Right
I thought Horne answered it pretty well. I'm with Hackett on this. Even though I personally don't like guns the second amendment is there in the Constitution and we can't change any of them. I'm not a fan of the NRA and I used to be really big on gun control but now days I know it's more about personal responsibility. I think if something happens with a gun (like a child gets their hands on it and an accident happens) the person who should get in trouble is the owner of the gun for not being protective of it enough.

6. Something really got me wondering with Taylor
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 11:55 PM by FreedomAngel82
Someone called in on the republican line asking about body armor and how they can get their soldiers help with that. Taylor proclaimed that all the vehicles had armor and they got it in less than two years. Does anybody know about this? He also talked about the Iraqi army. This call is around 40:31 if you're wondering.
