wouldn't you be mad? I mean, no matter who it was, wouldn't you be somewhat furious?

The press is working overtime to make this Whittington guy look like a total dumba$$ who shouldn't have gotten in the way of Cheney's honorable hail of bullets. I just can't believe that when (if) this guy gets out of the ICU that he won't give us a less-than-rosy picture of what REALLY happened. I don't care what incentive or threat Cheney gives him.

6. Maybe somebody screamed "DUCK, Whittington"...
and Cheney thought he was a duck.

2. Friends don't shoot friends - guns shoot friends
They'll take my friend from me when they can pry him from my cold, lifeless hands.

:sarcasm:

3. You're assuming they consider each other friends.
Creatures like Cheney don't have friends. They have allies, associates, aides and enemies. They are incapable of trusting anyone enough to be friends with them.

7. Yeah, that was my favorite part too, when Cheney's spokesbroad
blamed the shooting VICTIM for getting shot. I don't know why that would suprise me, I guess I should have suspected they would spin it that way but even after all this time I'm proud to say I'm just not capable of thinking like them.

8. You're supposed to keep your finger off the trigger
Until you've sighted your target. Swinging a shotgun around with your finger on the trigger is a big no-no. Unless, you know, he HAD sighted his target. My feeling is he was sick of killing people by lying our army into a war; he wanted to get at least one up close and personal. And like everything else these drooling nazis try, he fucked it up.

9. Shoot me once, shame on...shame on you. Shoot me, won't get shot again.
According to an article I read, this morning, Whittington is in "very stable" condition and he had a "great night" in the hospital. It's the adjectives that stink up the story. If they would have just left out the adjectives, their BS would have been be more believable.

11. "Great night" in the ICU
I know every night I've ever spent in a hospital has been "great". :eyes:

I also loved the stories about how he's talking, making jokes, and flirting with the nurses...with half a load of buckshot just removed from his face. If he's so alert and jovial why isn't he telling the press all this himself?

15. it would depend on the circumstance
i could see a circumstance where i would be more angry and blaming of myself, if i were drunk and startled my friend and put him in that position

i strongly suspect both men were drinking, both men are to blame, and neither man sees any point in pointing fingers at the other

they both look like total dumbasses and i think it's because they were both acting like dumbasses

have you ever been in a car accident w. your friend driving, you didn't just try to trash and dump on your friend, did you? even if he was really completely to blame? being a friend sometimes means you take more crap than you would take from someone you didn't care abt

i do think it would be pretty creepy being a friend of cheney's but i suspect whittington himself is just as creepy

17. Aha, but the White House machine is blaming Whittington
If you got in a wreck with your buddy driving, I think it would be easy to forgive him/her, even if he/she were completely at fault. After all, accidents happen.

But what if your buddy delayed reporting the accident, tried to cover it up, and then had all his/her friends in the press blame YOU for it? Wouldn't you just be a tad miffed at that?

18. Hmmm let me see,,,,
Probably wouldn't be the healthy thing for "friend". The so-called friend would have rather unexpected, painful and particularly acute case of high speed traumatic lead poisoning. I'm married to a progressive, "good old boy" who wouldn't think twice of levelling the playing field. I, for one, not only halfway expect but in fact, look forward to the version of the incident that makes more sense. You know the saying, there are always three sides to any story, side A, side B and what really happened. Should be an interesting week.

22. Well, if Cheney did nothing wrong, what would Whittington...
be trying to hide? Why not just come out and say it was an accident and everything's A-OK?

Isn't that sort of the Republican mantra?
