that things happen. How does she know God did it? Does she have any sort of proof? Sometimes when bad things happen to me or my family I do catch myself blaming God but than after thinking about it for a long time I know we all have freewill here in this world and I don't have any type of proof God is "punishing" me or even helping me with life. I'd tell them about my grandfather. He was an elder of his church and did singing and taught Bible classes and was very active for many years in his church. He was also a navy veteran and worked at NASA for a couple of years in Huntsville. He hadn't always been a Christian but got into religion when my Mom was a teenager and had been faithful ever since and than a couple summers ago got cancer and died last summer. Why? Because he used to smoke cigars and pipes. God wasn't punishing him. He chose to smoke when he was younger and had health problems back than and had to stop smoking or he would've died even sooner and I wouldn't have known him. Than there's the youth group's ministers wife who became pregnant with triplets (she was using some sort of pill to help her get pregnant and that's how she got triplets) and she was SOOOoooo close to having the babies and she lost them all. So was she being "punished"? Or another family friend a long time ago had the sweetest little boy who died because his heart was growing and he wasn't and had complications. They did have another child who's just like him but was that little boy and their family punished? I could go on of course. My grandmother once tried to pull that crap onto my cousin and I was really surprised (she and my grandfather both voted for Kerry). She told my cousin she wasn't getting pregnant because she and her husband didn't go to church reguarly. :eyes: The only way you can get through people like in the original post is to use the Bible against them or use very simple logic and ask question's to maybe make them think.
