I'm convinced that Cheney will not serve out his term
That is my prediction. Sometime (probably prior to the '06 elections or just after) he will say due to health problems he is going to resign, but the true reason is too many things are coming to light which have his grubby little fingers mixed in--including Plame. This shooting is just another layer on the cake.

If that happens I think Bush will try to appoint Condi as VP.

18. I don't think Bush can pardon him for future crimes
But he can certainly pardon him for all past crimes, whether known or unknown.

Tho this is about the worst thing Bush could do. Politically, of course, it would be suicide. But even disregarding that, without the threat of prosecution, Cheney couldn't "take the 5th," and would be forced to testify about everything, and be held in contempt if he fails to do so, or charged with perjury if he lies.

Cheney's status as VP is pretty much the only reason anyone inside the Beltway gives him the time of day -- without his political clout, he's just a doddering fool with a bum ticker.

3. For the first time, I am actually optimistic
that this is one scandal too many. I think he will resign soon. Condi won't work -- she is pro-choice. His base won't stand for that.

5. No Way -
there's no way he's going to be pushed out - not after all he's done to bring the neo-con wet dream of a never ending Middle East war to reality. They owe him big time!

Sen. Allen of VA (R) is throwing him under the bus for Plame.

the outing of a CIA agent and the roll up of Brewster Jennings.

This investigation is independent of Fitz work too. What Cheney did was a major crime.
It is called treason.

11. Let me understand this correctly
Cheney shoots someone with bird shot, at the moment, let's still assume it's an accident. We'll never know for sure.

That's hardly a scandal.

The press will blow it up and we like lemmings jump on the band wagon throwing all types of mostly ridiculously innuendos out there for the general consumption which will come back to bite us in the ass making us look stupid and petty.

Personally, we have much bigger issues at there than a couple of old geezers almost killing themselves, even if it is the VP

12. Frankly, Dems should want him to serve out his term.
If they pushed him out his ugly / snarky mug will be forgotten by 2008 the presidential election.

14. My dad said this in December and last night.
He thinks they'll out Condi in to get her a head start in looking presidential. HE said he thinks Cheney will resign for health reasons.

And yes, we should hope he remains with indictments.
