Major Lefty Blog Finally Asks....The Other Women in Hunting Party
actually, Jerelyn Merritt doesn't ask this question herself, but highlights a reader's post on the front page....(which means she was probably wondering the same thing...the thing I keep wondering about.) Anyway this is the first lefty blog that has highlighted/headlined the question, and I hope others pick it up, because they are correct -- something is very fish about the whole story.

Cheney's Hunting Party Companions

A reader writes in:

Do you find it odd that 2 men are out hunting with 2 women that are not their wives? Maybe this is the reason for the WH cover up?

The four in the hunting party were: Cheney, Whittington, the divorced Katharine Armstrong and as Raw Story wrote earlier, Pamela Willeford, the U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland.

Before you say it's sleazy to ask this, think about what the press would be reporting if it were John Kerry instead of Dick Cheney.

25. more on Willeford
http://www.opensecrets.org/bush/ambassadors/willeford.asp

snip

Texas education official Pamela Willeford received one of the world’s most coveted diplomatic posts when President Bush nominated her to serve as ambassador to Switzerland in July 2003. A longtime Bush family friend, Willeford replaced Mercer Reynolds III, who had stepped down to serve as finance chairman of Bush’s reelection campaign.

The posting to Bern was not the first honor Willeford had received from Bush. In 1995 then-Governor Bush appointed her to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and two years later he elevated her to chairwoman. Willeford also serves as president of the Breckenridge-based Pico Drilling Co. She partnered with First Lady Laura Bush to begin the annual Texas Book Festival in 1996.

Willeford and her immediate family contributed a total of $23,200 to Republicans during the 2000, 2002 and 2004 election cycles, including $7,000 to the Bush campaigns and an additional $500 to the Bush-Cheney recount fund established after the 2000 election. According to the Houston Chronicle, Willeford has also been a “major contributor” to Bush’s gubernatorial inauguration celebrations and served as a co-chair of his 1999 gubernatorial inauguration committee.

*Figures represent contributions from the individual and his/her immediate family from 1999-2004. Total includes donations made to Republican candidates and party committees, as well as the Bush-Cheney recount fund formed after the 2000 election and Bush's two inaugural committees.

8. Yeah, we should call in a journalists from
a UK paper.

Cheney having an affair with another woman would explain why it took the group 18 - 24 hours to release the details of the shooting.

20. IMO alcohol use was the reason for the delay......
I'd bet anything Dick and the shot gun shell catcher were both using alcohol. 18 to 24 hours were needed to dry out in the event of an investigation. Hospital should know about pellet catcher.

7. FWIW, Armstrong is Sen Kay Bailey Hutchison's best friend.
who knows what to make of this....

I do remember reading that in her initial chat w/the press, Armstrong refused to name the 4th mbr of the party (now we know it was the ambassador to Switzerland - Willeford, who is married to an Austin doctor).

Kinda weird it was only the 4 of them, yet it was paired off equally men & women, and none were married to each other.

Again....

No, that's not it. It means someone has some money to transfer to a safe, undisclosed location.

28. Does anyone find it ODD, that the media has not mentioned the AMBASSADOR?
All of a sudden, I am finding that very, very strange.
Did I mention that ambassadorship to Switzerland is a very, very plum job?

Why did Armstrong refuse to name the other woman in their foursome?
Why did they wait so long to make a stmt (& then, not the VPs office)?

Where were the wives of these two men?

Curiouser and curiouser.....

men using hunting trips as an opportunity to fool around on their wives. Hunting trips are great cover, most wives don't want to go along.

41. Yes, from experience
My step dad used to pull this one, that is until my mom caught on and divorced him.

I recall my uncle going into the hospital for a couple of weeks once, supposedly due to a work related injury. Years later, my grandmother told me he was caught by the husband of a woman he'd been fooling around with on his "hunting trips". Cuckolded hubby put my uncle in the hospital for a while.

As a single woman I never fooled around with married men. If they cheat on their wife they'll cheat on you, too.

Ye old hunting cabin has long been a trysting place for unfaithful spouses.

9. i really hate to sink to this, BUT
considering the stakes (our country), if it is a little sex stuff, this is the ONLY thing that will wake up some of these fundies. and if that's what this is, that means one of us does not have to sacrifice ourselves on our knees with * to get people to end their mindless worship of the dynamic deadly duo */cheney. if it's proven cheney was cheating, he and * will fall from their thrones so fast it'll make your head spin. but it is pretty sickening it takes a sex story to get people's attention - not war, not people left to die in a major flooded out city, not lies upon lies upon lies. very sad.

so this needs to be talked up.

It is a sick thought with those involved, but hey, you know if it were Democrats that would be the FIRST thing they brought up. Two men, with two women that are not their wives.....is this what they were REALLY trying to hide?
