2. Did he mention that it appears that Cheney did a 180 and shot behind him?
The guy is supposed to have approach from the rear. How would anyone who didn't want to get shot approach a group of hunters?

He's an example of last year's Republican white man.

5. He was spinning so fast, I was getting dizzy
I hope whittington gets so enraged by this slime machine that surrounds the administration that he comes out publicly with the real truth.

7. Actually Simpson seems to know exactly what he 's talking about.
I belie he is relating the story that was told to him about what happened in that field, but he's right about how you hunt and shoot.

Alan is definately Cheney's friend and doing his best to cover for him.

13. Gun safety requires double and triple safeguards - multiple levels.
When human life is at risk, one level of safeguard or single points of responsibility just don't fly! The point is this - there's no question that hunters in a group must stay behind the (imaginary) safety line. but that's not sufficient! Every hunter must keep track of the postions of other hunters and never allow their aim to cross the postions of those hunters. But even if Whittington ran naked while singing "it's my birthday" into the field of fire, it does not make him "fair game"! The whole point of multiple levels of safety is to ensure that single failures don't result in injury or fatality. No person's mistake can be allowed to exonerate other errors - least of all the victim!

This is one of the problems with multilevel assurance controls in many critical operations - people get sloppy and let the safeguards erode, deceiving themselves with the "safe enough" delusion. This is why nuclear power plants are worrisome. This is why good commerical pilots are anal retentive about air safety - and why the back office corporatists ignore them until 200-400 people get killed.

No wrong makes the other wrong a 'right.'

14. Simpson's trying to play it as if it were nothing more than a typical day
hunting in a field.

Bad move, ALan.

10. I thought he would never shut up.
For non-viewers:

Alan Simpson is blaming Whittington for the accident. I am not being sarcastic - he is going on and on about what a great shot Cheney is. Stating AS FACT that Whittington must have wandered into the path of the shooting. How the hell does he know what went on.

And so begins the RW Talking Points. Always blame the other guy. Ah well, that's par for the course for this administration.

11. The Democratic tact should now be to trash the Repugs who
blame the victim. They do this switcheroo all the time, and this time, as it is valid, we should do it back to them en mass.
