According to Anderson Cooper... we are now going to destroy
all those mobile homes that were meant for the Katrina victims that are just sitting there sinking into the ground and falling apart. Yes, your money and mine! This disgusting waste makes me sick! We now have to spend millions more to jack up all those trailers and repair them or demolish the whole lot. Please tell me where we're going to put all that debris? Put it on a freighter and ship it around the world?

This administration is soooooo stupid! How can they be so irresponsible with our tax dollars? They don't seem to be able to do anything right. I'm mystified as to how so many people voted for him and could possibly still think bush* could do a better job of protecting us.

3. Auntie, join the club! I also heard the bought trailers that
are sitting in Arkansas and not being used, and due to neglect might/will be destroyed. In the meantime, there are people who are fighting FEMA and a deadline tonight who have been living in hotels and have no other recourse.:grr:

9. YES, when it rained the ground got soggy and the
axles sunk unevenly into the ground and the frames twisted. So now
they are literally falling apart and are inhabitable and unsellable unless we invest millions more into repairing them..
Good move Brownie et al. Proud of ya! These are the same kind of people that have the intelligence to shoot other people in the face.

The absolute, unbelievable fucking waste! And what's even worse is, there are so many people who need a place to live. But does FEMA care? Does Chimpy McCokespoon care? Hell. No!

7. okay, I'm missing something here
you know, if an RV is stored properly outside, it should NOT be falling apart. Especially after only a few months.

24. I'm well aware of how they're constructed
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 12:32 PM by DemonGoddess
I lived in 'em for enough years. That's my whole POINT. IF they are properly blocked, they won't twist. IF they are stored on pavement, and are blocked, they can stay that way for a looooong time. Even if they're stored on DIRT, if they are checked on, things can be done to prevent damage.

27. DemonGoddes wasn't trying to insult you....
You are right, I am in agreement with you. Everything that they did was incompetent.

From
Construction,
to storage,
blocking,
distribution,
monitoring

It is so overwhelming sometimes to comprehend the utter failure and incompetence of the * bunch that it makes me weary!!

8. You're missing the bigger point...the cronies STILL GET PAID!
I know I heard that one trailer supplier was a friend of BushCo's. I also heard another, though, that said FEMA wouldn't pay for them because they hadn't been logged in and bar-coded yet, and "if it doesn't have a bar code, we won't pay for it." One way or another, this is criminal.

20. Atman you have hit the nail on the head the cronies....
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 12:14 PM by MadMaddie
From the earlier reporting in January, Anderson Cooper reported that the trailers were built by * Cronies that were clear across the country. They didn't even use local Gulf coast vendors to build the trailers, which could have been delivered directly. And it gets better, apparantly the cost of the trailers that were built by the cronies, the prices were inflated. Once again price gouging and no checks and balances.....

Oh and the construction was of poor quality, not that is a surprise to us here at DU.

If they are so incompetent and can't get the barcodes completed, I am betting that they could could get some grocery store boys to apply the barcodes and run them. Once again they have made a simple task into a complicated one. When will we get grownups in the government!!:banghead:

14. If so, they are intentionally destroying property that could save lives
And it will be more proof that the White House is engaging in homocidal acts by intentionally refusing to provide shelter for NEW ORLEANS RESIDENTS.

IT IS THEIR HOME.

22. The story will just sink further into the mud along with the trailers
and why we went to war with Iraq and why Cheney waited a full day before notifying the press. Talk about hubris. Well now they should bury the comments complaining about why Kennedy waited to tell folk about his car going off the bridge and not getting the girl out. Cheney's is pretty similar. Both involve drinking! Both were scared and concerned about there public image and needed time to decide what was the best way to explain their mistakes to the press and public. Both scared what it will do to their political parties. Cheney was just damn lucky he didn't kill the guy. So no more comments from Rethugs about Kennedy...case closed!

never mind the survivors of Katrina keep getting screwed over - never mind the America taxpayer keeps getting screwed over - never mind Iraqis and soldiers keep getting screwed over....as long as Bush cronies keep getting paid - that's all that matters.

29. Not according to Anderson Cooper! It's all true!
He was right there reporting on the situation and said due to so much rain the trailers were sinking into the mud causing all the problems previously mention. The next day I heard several news reports confirm this was true!It will cost the taxpayers many millions to do ANYTHING to correct the situation. But, I wish you were right!
