Cheney shot a guy -- funny -- but let's not overlook the obvious
Like I read in another thread, we likely will never know what REALLY happened, BUT at the very least, Cheney had to have been reckless and negligent in handling his firearm. I have yet to hear anyone mention the fact that there could quite possibly be criminal negligence involved in the incident.

If they had been in the woods shooting at wild quail, I might think differently, but the fact that these were essentially "canned" prey (little more than fodder, really), makes this incident a lot more difficult to explain away than a simple, innocent accident. The fact that the incident was kept from the press for nearly a full day points to something more untoward about the whole affair. Did a cover story have to be invented, then practiced to make sure everyone had it straight? Was the victim pissed off and ready to press charges until he could be coaxed or cowed into toeing the line?

I don't know how important any of this is (it might be a Rovian red herring), but there's definitely a fishy smell of one kind or another about it.

1. There's probably a LOT of ghastly things we'll never know
Ever notice the progression of truth in an unavoidable story? The end story looks nothing the administration's first version.

And there's a lot of unavoidable stories around right now.

2. It will be interesting to see . . .
. . . if Whittington gets to keep his downtown Austin property that the city has been trying to get eminent domain on for a convention center parking lot.

5. Turns out it was the other guy's fault, too.
Must be why it took 22 hours to "get the facts straight," as the White House says. But without a doubt, SOMEBODY was being reckless and irresponsible...

...and that's so unlike Dick, dontcha think?
