RW'ers are trying to divide Muslims and Non-Muslims
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 08:51 AM by ck4829
I was thinking about that whole cartoon debacle recently.

It would be pretty ludicrous to think that RW'ers are actually trying to inflame the anger of Muslims, but then again, who knows?

But, I am 110% sure that RW'ers here in America and abroad are trying to turn the Non-Muslim World and the Muslim world into an "Us vs Them" Conflict.

Let's look at how the RW is trying to goad paranoia, fear, and loathing in the minds of Americans and the rest of the West and how the RW is turning this into "Us vs Them".

Example 1 - "Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives have Penetrated Washington is a 2005 book (ISBN 1595550038) by Paul Sperry, a journalist who writes for World Net Daily and Antiwar.com

The book documents what Paul Sperry believes to be a vast and insidious infiltration of Wahhabist Muslims into the American educational system, government, workplace, law enforcement, and the military. Their alleged goal is to replace the U.S. Constitution with the Sharia and turn America into a totalitarian Islamic state.

Sperry believes that this alleged Wahhabist conspiracy has been been at times unwittingly (and at other times intentionally) aided by a "politically correct" US media that promotes Islamism and keeps citizens unaware of danger of Islam to American values.

Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives have Penetrated Washington can be placed within the genre of the "paranoid style" in American politics, as described by historian Richard Hofstadter in an essay in Harper's Magazine in 1964, later turned into a book. A major aspect of the Paranoid Style is that America is under secret attack by a foreign ideology that is infiltrating American society with the goal of destroying it. Several newer books on this subject have been published. One by Daniel Pipes describes how anti-Semitic conspiracism flourishes in the Middle East, highlighting the irony that Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives have Penetrated Washington is a mirror image of that genre based on anti-Muslim sentiments."

WorldNutDaily Author Sperry is trying to claim that there is a Vast Muslim Conspiracy trying to take over America, and that it's already inside our borders. There are plenty of other books like this so let's move on.

Example 2 - Tying Liberals and Extremist Muslims together. This is a smart idea coming from the RW. With this they can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. They can say that there is a Vast Muslim Conspiracy AND claim that their enemies, the Liberals, are part of this Conspiracy.

People (Some who have questionable Integrity) who have done this.

David Horowitz - The man who wants to bring all colleges and Universities under RW Control

Michael Savage
Ann Coulter

Example 3 - Us Vs Them

RW'ers make Propaganda.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam:_What_the_West_Needs_to_Know

This IS NOT a war between Muslims and Non-Muslims.

I know I am not safe from Osama bin Laden or Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi just because I am a Muslim.

In fact, Islamic Terrorists have often called for the death of Muslims who are friends with Non-Muslims.

Never, never make this in to an Us vs Them Conflict. It's not true, and it is without a doubt very hurtful to the families and friends of the several hundred Muslims who died in the WTC on 9/11.

Example 4 - Rare Concepts that almost no Muslims believe in

It seems as though there are several Urban Myths that are propagated about Islam.

Taqiyya - Several RW'ers have said that Muslims are allowed to lie to Non-Muslims. This simply isn't true, I have heard that Muslims are allowed to lie when their lives are in danger, but this is also permitted under other religions, such as Druze and Judaism.

Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb - This is something that I have never heard of. This is dividing the world into 2 places, the "House of Islam", and the "House of War". It appears nowhere in the Quran. It is something that Islamic Scholars did, but I have yet to meet the fellow Muslim who divides the world into these 2 houses.

Conclusion - I don't know that if RW'ers are trying to stoke the hatred of Extremist Muslims, but it is fair to say that THEY are the ones who are trying to divide US ALL into two houses.
