Why Are They Above The Law?
We used to joke that if Bush shot someone on the white house lawn they would spin it away and make a hero of the guy.

Now we have a real situation. The VP shot somebody.

What concerns me here is that local law enforcement was not allowed to do it's job. Apparently, if it was up to Cheney, no one would have ever been informed that he had shot someone.

The real story here is once again, the administration is shitting on the law. It begs the question.
Can anything they do, even crimes, be hidden under the ruse of "national security"?

Is potential embarassment to the president or vice-president considered to be a matter of "national security."

It's very eerie that this shooting occurred shortly after a trial balloon was sent up about Bush's "authority" to order someone's death on american soil.

Is this a nation of laws or a nation of republicans?

1. Great question
They are so in our face about the fact that they are above all laws. When did this happen?

2. Well,
I think the events involving VP Cheney shooting a man in the face answer your question. In fact, I think it answers it for a lot of Americans who haven't had the pleasure of reading DU.

5. We're a nation of cumbersome, burdensome laws
Isn't that what Gonzales said?

So we're a nation of laws provided the law doesn't get in the way of any illegal activity the Bush Regime wants to engage in

and how it came to be? Well, if those who can enforce the law don't - we're all screwed.
