1. Thanks for this post
especially the highlighted part. It is the outside Ohio interference that gets my goat.

3. So my question is... are they going to let Paul just slip into oblivion
Or are they going to use him and find a place to utilize his energy, spirit and obvious crowd drawing personality?

2. Hackett may still run for the CD - but only if the 3 others he gave his
word to do to "not interfer with their run" do not run and withdraw.

4. wtf?
The DNC doesn't really lead then by allowing Hackett to be pressured into dropping out...??

:wtf:

5. The DNC did NOT interfere. Learn about your party. Read it again.
Think.

6. Do you really think that the
DNC is there to tell Schumer and Reid what to do?

If so, you have a mistaken impression of what the DNC does.

9. I think you're seeing the hidden battle between the DNC & DLC.
The DLC didn't want Howard to be Chairman, and they don't want him or his tactics NOW! Both are professional enough not to fight their battle publicly, but I'm convinced it's pretty hot inside!

10. I suspect that this is a bit like a roshorch drawing
Where those of us who want to slam into the DNC can find evidence to support our ponts and those of us who want to support the DNC and defend it can likewise find evidence to support our position.

11. No, it is the DNC speaking out powerfully.
Ir is the DNC making a statement.

16. Doesn't seem that way, does it?
Dean is obviously distraught, and saying about all that he can about it. He certainly didn't have to issue a statement at all. This matter barely concerns him.

8. My opinion
I think a lot of people who are thinking of running for office may be put off by the interferance of out of state democrats and may not run because of it. Just a thought.

17. Instead, they should
get on the local and state party committees and help lead in the direction they think it should go.

12.  Dean has learned to say less with more words
He praised Hackett, he disavowed any involvement, he gave a vague comment than can be interpreted as criticism of Dems who tried to push Hackett out of the race or could be interpreted as a denial that national Dems tried to push him out of the race or could even be interpreted as a statement that he just wasn't going to get involved in the dispute...

He's attempting to avoid a split. Good statement, considering. Nice words about Hackett and his supporters.

18. Hm. Maybe.
I've been trying to guess whether I agree with you or not, from your veiled comments. I think Dean meant to give the impression to Hackett supporters that he was making a strong statement supporting Hackett. All his praise of Hackett really doesn't amount to anything, though, so more words to say less. But if you're saying his real point was to support the DNC and he did that without flatly stating it, I can see that point, but I don't think he was really supporting anyone except by default. He's saying Hackett's a nice guy, but he's gone, and that's that.

If you see more to it, you'll have to spell it out.

20. Oh for Christ's sake!!
Are you turning this into a pissing match? I thought you were trying to have a discussion. Your comments have been non-specific. Spell out what you mean, and drop the pretension, or go write gags for Dennis Miller. If you have something to say, say it.

Or else, never mind.

21. It is too unbelievable here today for me to say anymore.
If you are offended, I'm sorry.

If anyone is offended, I'm sorry.

I am sorry I posted this. It is clear to me, and I appreciate he took time.

I did not think my comments were "veiled" nor were they meant to be.

I think he did and said what he could.

22. What do you think he said?
You haven't spelled it out yet. The closest you've come is that this is a statement from the DNC. Cool. We know that, it's on the letterhead. If you expect me to know your opinions from another thread, sorry, my memory isn't that good. I spelled out what I saw, you gave vague comments. What do you think? What is Dean saying? What is he not saying? Do you think he's supporting Hackett or leaving him twisting? All these "How come I'm the only one smart enough to see what's really going on?" comments of yours are offensive to those of us trying to have a real discussion. If you don't have anything to say, don't go all "I've got a secret but I'm not telling" on us. This isn't the place.
