So would NOT want to be working at Cheney's victim's hospital
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 03:23 PM by rainbow4321
Any medical people readng this know what I mean. Imagine doing the charting on this man...wonder if they have SS people and WH lawyers reading over the staff's shoulders? Not that the records will ever see the light of day, it will probably all be shredded/deleted once they guy leaves the hospital. Wouldn't be surprised of the regular staff taking care of this guy have been replaced with nurses who are more under WH control. I can see the WH moving him to a military hospital if they can't control the civilian hospital/staff situation.

I have a hard time believing them when they say there is no way to tell the "exact" location of the pellet that is in the heart. With all the modern technology/scans/tests, they know damn well where the pellet is. There is no "safe" location for a pellet in someone's fucking HEART!!

“It is basically like an electrical short circuit,” Dr. Blanchard said. “It is easily treated with medications. It is a non-surgical type of condition.”

Dr. Blanchard said Mr. Whittington could live with the piece of birdshot in his heart as the “BB is in a fixed position where it could not travel.”

“He will have a full life that the Lord intended him to have,” Dr. Blanchard said. “This shouldn’t affect that one way or the other.”
Dr. Blanchard and Mr. Banko said the hospital’s doctors discussed Mr. Whittington’s condition with White House physicians on Tuesday because the lodging of a BB in the heart is extremely rare. “They might see this once or twice in their lifetime,” Mr. Banko said. “Our cardiac surgeons wanted to consult with other cardiac surgeons and cardiologists that have expertise.”

2. It is not a BB. It is bird shot from a shotgun!

3. Question for med people
Can Whittington have an MRI if there is shot still in his body? Would the metal mess up the MRI?
Just wondering how they handle this.

4. No MRI.
Yes, the metal would mess up his MRI - and probably him.

I have a piece of metal that's and eighth of an inch long by a 1/32 of an inch wide in one knee and that is enough to mess up MRIs -- and to wiggle when my knee was in an MRI. Not fun.

I'd hate to think what 30 or 40 somethings that are 8 times bigger than my little needle fragment would do in someone's chest, neck and face.

6. They need to sic the Compliance Officers on the SS & WH folks...
A few strong lectures on HIPAA rules will make them run away, screaming.

7. Notice the comment from the doc about "the Lord"
mmmmm..so is that going to be the WH line if the man dies?? The Good Lord decided it was his time?? And Cheney's carelessness had nothing to do with it....

Given that it is chimp's people overseeing the HIPAA rule/department, I'm thinking there will be a very large loophole in the works for this whole mess.
Keep in mind, with the man's signature the HIPAA rule is waived. Any patient can sign a piece of paper allowing their medical info to be shared with anyone. I can just imagine the papers that were thrown in front of the guy and his family to be signed after Cheney shot him and he was taken to the hospital. In that pile was probably a HIPAA waiver.
