I think this is giving Cheney a lot of "Don't mess with me" credibility.
"It was an accident, see? An accident. Lots of people have accidents. Could happen any time. That's why people need to be careful."

God works in mysterious ways. He was in the hospital when he had the heart attack, no better place.
So, Cheney saved this man's life? ;)

15. Maybe it is Scotty Boy.
"He was in the hospital when he had the heart attack, no better place." Never mind that fact that the heart attack was a result of being shot in the first place. :spank: How dumb are these people, anyway?

28. Let me save them the trouble - here's the press release:
"Mr. Whittington passed away due to a pre-existing heart condition which had gone undiagnosed and untreated. His passing was inevitable, and is totally unrelated to the shooting incident."

And if the sex angle is all over the media by then, they can add:

"Mr. Whittington's TWO mistresses, who BOTH accompanied him on his weekend hunting trip, mourn his passing ..."

31. That's a good one.
Kennedy apparently set out to kill that girl, on purpose of course ( :sarcasm: ), yet Laura Bush running a stop sign and killing her boyfriend is "not newsworthy".

To: Jethro Tull

This has been reported (and posted) several times before... While tragic, I'm not sure it's especially newsworthy. Are you intending to insinuate some sort of questionable motives were involved here? If so, put your tinfoil hat back on!

If a man is falling out of a window and you shoot him on the way down, killing him, are you guilty of murder? Guess this Einstein won't be passing the Bar anytime soon. :eyes:

32. The right-wing tack of inserting Ted Kennedy into this current fiasco...
...really gets my blood boiling. :grr: All you have to do is look at Rush's (:puke:) comments on his hate-filled Website -- he is leading the way for the Kennedy false analogy.

What Senator Ted Kennedy did nearly 37 years ago (37 years!), however one feels about that long-ago incident, has utterly no bearing on the fact that our vice president just shot a guy a couple of days ago. Linking the two incidents is partisanship of the worst kind -- "A tragedy caused by a Democratic Senator in 1969 is far worse than this tragedy caused by a Republican Vice President in 2006." Bullshit.

The fact remains that the Vice President of the U.S. (THE vice president!) shot a man at close range with a shotgun. HOW is this okay? This is not something that can just be shrugged off or laughed about. "Just birdshot?" "Accident?" "Common hunting acccident?" All spin, and irrelevant.

>>>The vice president shot a guy at close range, who's now in intensive care having suffered a subsequent heart attack. <<< THAT's what happened.

33. Kennedy was cleared in a court of law, too.
Granted, the circumstances were an ugly blot on Kennedy's otherwise stellar career, but he was held accountable...Freepers forget that inconvenient fact. I think that period was a really bad time for Ted. He lost 2 brothers to assassinations in the preceeding years and his marriage wasn't particularly stable either.

I often wonder what the Freeps would complain about if they didn't have Chappaquidick or a blue dress to point to. As if those 2 incidences nuetralizes all of the ugly corruption and scandals that have been systematic in the Republican Party for as long as I have been voing (1972).
