Any Texas Lawyers Out There?

If so, could you enlighten us as to the negligent shooting statute in the Texas Code? Is there a hunting-related statute in Texas? Does Texas law acknowledge that negligent shooting can happen during a hunt?

Not being sarcastic. Just want to know. The idea that the county sheriff could reach the conclusion that it was an "accident" without any forensics or in-depth investigation makes me wonder what the statutes are like down there.

I thought I had read that the SS wouldn't even let the local law enforcement investigate or go near the scene for some time. If that's the case, isn't there an obstruction of justice or interferring with a crime scene charge in this somewhere?

I'm trying to figure out what one has to do in order to commit a crime by shooting someone while hunting . . . in Texas. I ask in the main because Texas is the only state in the Union where one may use deadly force in defense of personal property.

I just wonder if, in Texas, it's even *possible* to commit a crime by shooting someone on a hunting trip.
