Now it's a "silent heart attack"

:wtf:

The 78-year-old lawyer who was shot by Vice President Dick Cheney in a hunting accident has some birdshot in or touching his heart and he had "a silent heart attack" Tuesday morning, hospital officials said.

The victim, Harry Whittington, was immediately moved back to the intensive care unit for further treatment, said Peter Banko, the administrator at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial in Texas.

his monitor alerted the nurses at their desk and the plan to 'off' him silently was foiled.

4. Cheney out with an unmarried woman
Boy, I can't imagine my mom tolerating my dad going out on a 'couples' weekend
fishing or hunting trip with a younger unmarried woman. Whats up with that?
Dick is a playa!

7. Cheney was drunk as a skunk
It's time to put the Secret Service Agents on scene under oath and find out what the secrets are.

If "Harry" dies, he's just another victim of this evil cabal whose members consider themselves above the law.

Chimpeach!

11. Welcome to DU! I'm not sure about him being drunk myself but
It's pretty fishy that they didn't let local law anywhere NEAR him for 14hrs.

I think he just wanted to pretend it never happened. Because he said so! that's why! and if you keep asking him that you'll be off to bed without your supper!

Above the law. They don't see themselves as subject to law at all, do they?

"Hospital officials said they were not concerned about the six to 200 other pieces of birdshot that might still be lodged in Whittington's body."
" Unfortunately, these types of hunting accidents do happen from time to time"
""We picked up an irregular heartbeat. At no time did he have any chest pain, the classic signs of a heart attack or anything like that,"

Add to the list!

his body, and they didn't discover this until today?

------------

Another weirdness: What's with the Secret Service letting an old guy with a rifle wander off out of sight, from the V-P's hunting party, and then return and "suprise" the V-P? Was the Secret Service drunk too?

Are they sticking to this story? Is this the official story? What's its source? (I didn't see the initial news articles.)

19. they knew he had bird shot in him
but they don't know how much apparently

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/14/AR2006021400990.html

He said later, however, that the single BB-like piece of birdshot is "in a fixed position" and it not expected to travel. Blanchard said he and other doctors treating Whittington feel "very strongly that all the other birdshot in him is not problematic." The number of other pieces of birdshot in Whittington's body is not known, he said, but could range anywhere from "more than five" to "less than 150 to 200."

22. Thanks for the info! Do they mean "in a fixed position" in his HEART?
I understood that's why he had a heart attack--a pellet had reached his heart.

24. birdshot touched his heart I think
It lies outside the heart from what I understand. It irritated his heart, causing attack. But not to worry, it is not "traveling." Cheney feels badly but did not do anything he wasn't supposed to do.

18. silent or not - it could be just as deadly
Question for Lawyers: If Whittington (god forbid) dies from a heart attack or some other complication due to the shotgun pellets - could that be considered involuntary manslaughter?

21. A silent heart attack is very real, it's not some BS spin word
WebMD

A silent heart attack is one in which a person does not feel chest pain or any other symptoms (such as a feeling of choking or throat tightness, difficulty breathing, irregular or skipped heartbeat, or numbness or discomfort in the arm or hand).

This type of heart attack is usually not detected unless there are symptoms of another condition, such as heart failure, at the same time. It may not be discovered until later, during a routine physical.

A silent heart attack may occur when the nerves in the heart have been damaged by high blood sugar due to diabetes. Because the heart attack does not cause symptoms, it is ignored or not noticed and often causes more damage to the heart. In a person with diabetes, the only signs of a heart attack may be a rising blood sugar level and weakness that does not go away after eating sugar.

heart attack. It's only silent if they can't hear you scream. Or something.

Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 05:11 PM by Ecumenist
Fellas, there's alot more to this than they're admitting, trust me. I bet that the lawyer is alot closer to the "Upper Room" then is being admitted. I also feel that cheney is trying to hide more than just in an "altered state" and I wonder about the presence of someone other than his wife.....
This situation stinks no matter how you look at it. I swear , I got so sick of the Vince Foster travesty where the Clintons were accused of everything but starting the man's car for him and here's a situation where someone was actually shot, with eyewitnesses no less, with explanations that are so full of holes, it's not even funny and yet, right wings is trying to spin this into something resembling a boy scout jamboree gone wrong. It's a hot mess all around.
