Clumsiness seems to purvey in the White House. Some leaders fall off of things like bikes and Segways when they're "sober". Others run their ex-boyfriends over with their car even sober-er. And there are some who get twitchy around microwaves and shotguns. Luckily, every four years America can gather their "non-embarassing citizens" in one place to show off what America is really about -- gnarly fakey 1080s on the half pipe.
I've been watching the Olympics and I'll tell you, I am proud to be (a green card holding immigrant who's only intention is to make as much money as possible and go back to my country with a woman who just might turn out to be) American.
To see those proud American faces on the podium looking at their flag and thinking, "I did it...I finally did it...my dream!" and knowing that for that fleeting second they could forget about their crappy job at Home Depot because their country couldn't/wouldn't supplement an Olympic athlete let alone heal a sick poor child just warms my heart.
So as the athletes look with a tear in their eye upon their hard won and well deserved medal wondering if melting it down or selling it on Ebay will allow them just one more chance, it gets me thinking. With all of this character building. With all of this dedication. With all of this being sober most of the time, what the hell did the American people actually ELECT to represent them? It seems to me, the leaders are the polar opposite of what really makes America proud...
But of course, that's just (don't listen to him, he's not Merkin) me.
