Why all the talk about charges for Cheney in event of victim's death?
Did the fellow die or have his condition worsen since this morning?

1. He suffered a "minor" heart attack due to birdshot being lodged in his
heart. He will remain hospitalized for another week.

6. Not that I know of, but I suspect that people are starting to realize
just how serious this man's injuries really are. Yesterday it was being spun as a relatively minor incident and now, today, the seriousness of it is setting in.

14. Thanks!
I just got done with the chills... And now I can't sleep... So it's getting itself done with in typical fashion!

8. The doctors on the M$M shows have been very dire about his condition
Not promising from what they've said. Hard to operate to get the birdshot away from his heart, particularly if it's migrated INTO his heart. Could cause stroke or death if it moves again.

3. I find this a bit creepy.
All this talk of his possible death. What must his family be thinking?

5. Under Texas law, if the guy dies within a year of this accident and
they can show proof that the trauma affected his long term health, he could still be charged with Negligent Homicide.

§ 19.05. CRIMINALLY NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE. (a) A person
commits an offense if he causes the death of an individual by
criminal negligence.
(b) An offense under this section is a state jail felony.

Acts 1973, 63rd Leg., p. 883, ch. 399, § 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1974.
Renumbered from V.T.C.A., Penal Code § 19.06 by Acts 1973, 63rd
Leg., p. 1123, ch. 426, art. 2, § 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1974.
Renumbered from V.T.C.A., Penal Code § 19.07 and amended by Acts
1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 900, § 1.01, eff. Sept. 1, 1994.

Even Faux news was saying that today.

10. Who would press the charges? The state of Texas? Or the family? n/t

11. I would imagine the State of Texas could
Seeing how they will kill anyone there for a traffic violation (ok, I exaggerate but you know what I mean, don't you?), why would they not? Otherwise, everyone will be launching a "Cheney defense". The law either applies to all or ir applies to none. No special dispensation for him, I say.

12. The victim's death WOULD result in charges
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 10:46 PM by rocknation
if this shooting had happened to normal people.

We have only their word for it exactly what condition Whittingon is in, and they're not going to tell us anything that would embarrass Cheney, never mind incriminate him. It's clearly much worse than they're letting on. And there is no such thing as a "mild" heart attack.

13. Whittington dies - Cheney drunk - negligent homicide - manslaughter
I hope the poor man lives.
