Let's not forget there's a man in there
There are knowns and there are unknowns; there are known knowns and unknown unknowns.

You go with the secretive, undisclosed location, answerable-to-no-one, smirking, sneering, vindictive, manipulative administration that you've got, not the one you elected.

Buried under all the plots thickening moment by moment, under the latest breaking crescendo of the perfect storm of news, is the man. Before we bury Mr. Whittington --and even knowing what little we know about his compromised Bushco. history --let's take a moment to wish him well. If he lives or dies, let's wish him out of the hell constructed by the occupants of the White House.

4. Amen--regardless of this man's affiliations, I wouldn't wish him ill. I
wouldn't even wish this upon Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, Rice, DeLay, Frist, not even bloody Limbaugh or fatass Sean Hannity--not even Ann Coulter.

That's the difference, I think, between the left and right (at least I hope it is). While they would be laughing and hoping for the worst, hopefully we are hoping that this man will live through this and regain his health.

(Rec'ing because I think this is an important message. A man's life hanging in the balance is no late-night laughing matter.)

5. I don't know anything about this man
But yes, I wish him well. I'm not a praying type, but I hope he recovers and gets healthy.

We've got to show our compassion here. This man did not deserve this, and it's a horrible thing to happen to someone.

if this guy dies not only does it besmearch the gun lobby (a heavily repuke contributing org) but it trashes old dickhead and seriously hurts the repukes as a whole!

Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 02:55 AM by thebigidea
Well, i'll leave it to those more generous than me to fret and preen over how much less hateful they are.

Meanwhile, I'll be laughing hysterically at Cheney's misfortune.

As deaths go, it wouldn't be too bad. 78, rich as hell, shot in the face by the VP. Your footnote in history assured! Beats drowning alone and anonymous in New Orleans.

penalty and i don't believe in cheerleading someone's physical pain.

the thing is, we really are supposed to be better than that.

20. who cheerleaded his pain? I'm just saying as deaths go, its not so bad.
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 03:11 AM by thebigidea
I'm in incredible pain myself, covered in medicated patches that I couldn't even get on my own, the doctor had to give the prescription to a relative due to the health care system people like that nice old man built. They don't even work. So have some compassion for the blithering, dark ravings of a man nursing a tumor.

Besides, he hasn't died yet. We can do the outrage thing later.

I don't really feel a need to pretend to be better than my political enemies by boasting of my boundless, Christlike compassion. Black humor is all I've got. So i'll indulge. The Cheney incident is very humorous.

21. yeah, I admit i'm being a bit nasty but can't help it.
its 3am, haven't slept for days, and insurance companies have me in a holding pattern while I wait for a surgeon to rip this thing out of me. So apologies if I take it out on Republicans.

25. Hey, BigIdea. Just said a little prayer for you too.
I have to admit that when I'm at my lowest I consign Bush, Cheney, and their minions to the Hell they claim to believe in because of all the harm they've actively done to people like yourself.

I haven't been praying for Mr. Whittington, just wishing him no further injury.

You, my DU friend, get a prayer, for whatever it's worth. May you sleep, rest, arise somewhat refreshed, and hear good news from the insurance company. May your surgeon excise everything possible; may you experience complete healing. May your trust in goodness be restored. Blessed be.

28. aw, thanks for the kind thoughts.
tends to get pretty bleak at 4:20am. Plus I was hoping on a few more decades of mindless fun before developing serious health problems and the endless dull tales that accompany them. Soon i'll probably be reduced to boring people in supermarket checkout lines about bowel movements if this keeps up.

In other news, DICK CHENEY SHOT A MAN IN THE FACE. Bwhahahahah.

14. The Senator that Cheney told to fuck off now figures he got off easy
he coulda been shot in the face instead. Luckily the VP wasn't armed at that moment.

I can't believe that Cheney was making fun of Kerry, when I find out the guy hunts drunk, hunts birds that are held in nets and launched right in front of the "hunters" so they can shot them, hunts from his car, and doesn't know enough to make sure who's in front of him before he fires.

What a moron.

15. Simple compassion for another human...
...serves to make us more human.

No one is being a weak sister for wishing another human soul well.

I personally wish Mr. Whittington well...a recovery...and even, if applicable, an epiphany.

If anyone has looked into the maw of Hell, it would be him. Who knows, another convert to help bust the logjam of lies?

btw: Sisters be STRONG! We're even thinking (compassionately of course) that (some) men have made such a mess of things, we need to step up.............................. B-)

29. Hear, hear! It is one thing to gloat over the revelation of Cheney's...
criminal irresponsibility and thus his true character; it is quite another to gloat over the suffering and potential death of Cheney's victim. I wish Mr. Worthington the best: healing, recovery, long life. As I also join with Hekate in wishing TheBigIdea the same (and more because he is a DU colleague): successful surgery and the bright blessings of healing, recovery, restoration, long life -- so be it/blessed be.

32. Not that it matters, but he sounds like a good person
He's been active in prison reform, which is a really tough row to hoe even in the bluest states, much less Texas.

His taste in friends is pretty damned questionable, but he sounds like a decent human being.

36. I hope he makes it through, it sounds like he will.
Folks are always late on the ball, it seems. By the time DU gets EVERYONE riled up about the cover-up, Whittington will likely be out of the hospital and doing a tearful embrace with Cheney -- as Cheney sits down for his "Checkers" moment.

The American people are fickle. If we don't proceed carefully on this, it could be Cheney's "redemption moment" with the American people, just like Gennifer Flowers was for Clinton pre-election.
