Hunter: “I don’t care how they spin it, it was Cheney’s fault.”
The official line out of the White House is that Vice President Dick Cheney wasn’t to blame for accidentally shooting a hunting partner during a quail hunt over the weekend.

But Kansas City-area quail hunters aren’t buying it.

Though White House press secretary Scott McClellan said that Harry Whittington, the hunter who was shot, was in the wrong for not following “hunting protocol” and informing others in the party that he was approaching, area hunters say that still doesn’t absolve Cheney of blame.

“I don’t care how they spin it, it was Cheney’s fault,” said Dusty Ensley, a longtime quail hunter from Kansas City. “He swung around and fired without looking at what was in his line of fire. That’s something you should never do."

2. It not like they were hunting on state land
or some other place with lots of folks around. This was on private land, with only a handful of folks that all knew each other. Cheney should have know exactly where his friends were the whole time. One more bs excuse from the king of no responsibility.

4. To someone who hunts, it's cut and dry
Always identify your target. The White House is lying and 'Joe Sixpack' NRA gunowner knows it.

whole lot of bad PR/Publicity squarely on hunters heads. Our friend was telling us that all of the locals at the bowling alley are ticked as heck. Many folks up here are hunters and this area (of a blue state) was always rather red until last election it went purple. We haven't heard anyone speak well of the Bush Admin since we've moved here, there is however a whole lot of anger as the people slowly wake up to the fact that they and this country have been and are being royally screwed sans even a kiss or KY.

IME it's not a good idea to tick off hunters since, as I've already experienced, they will now make absolutely sure everyone they know hears how wrong Cheney was because they will want folks to know THEY are responsible and "good" hunters, NOT like Cheney. I grew up with a Godfather that hunted and between him, X's, late in-laws and current DH I've heard hunting/gun safety more then a few times, usually set off by some local hunting or gun accident which sadly happens too often. Although I don't hunt I think every child from the time they can walk should know basic gun safety, even more so if there's a gun in the house.

(edited because I forgot to check spelling :hangover: )

6. I know
The biggest deals are the little bullshit stories.

Truth be told though, Katrina started opening peoples' eyes, but Bush and crew still think they can get away with their normal MO, but they can't anymore.

5. “He swung around and fired without looking"
DAMN...didn't Dickey Duckster hear the other guy's monster truck drive up to the firing line?

I mean, they were running the little birds down with Hummers and Bigfoot trucks, were they not?

It's just a damned good thing they weren't hunting elephants with a 50 cal.

8. Fellow hunters. Please take note on how the Bush/Cheney cabal
lies and blames everyone else. How can you continue to vote for such scum just because they agree with you about guns?
