Tipping Point: The reason Cheney is crying right now
A diehard Rightwinger I know, upon greeting me this afternoon, said "I know you want to make some joke about Cheney shooting that guy so just go ahead." He was grinning in concession.

Everybody is sick of this guy. Between Plame, Halliburton, Katrina, Iraq, 911, and now this:

Stick a fork in him.

Cheney's done.

13. Or a soul
Cheney has absolutely no conscience.

In fact, no one in the current administration has any morals or integrity.

But something tells me Cheney has finally hit the proverbial Rock Bottom.

:) Am I bad because this makes me smile?

Wish I had thought to say it. I was thinking it, but I just said " You really don't want me to discuss politics today, John. Today, I am pissed."

Everyone who knows me well knows that when I say "Let's not talk politics" we should REALLY not discuss politics.

I'm a rough girl....;)

6. He's catching it from all sides on this one. CBS reports that
insiders say the White House is "livid" over Cheney's response to the incident. He is expected to mention it in a speech that he will make Friday in Wyoming.

10. Wyoming? That's his "home" state
Expect to see this bunch sticking to the moron corridor for the foreseeable future. Too bad, though, even the moron corridor is starting to catch a clue about this gang, and if the Democrats would wake up and notice what Schweitzer pulled off in Montana and why, they'd turn the whole thing a brilliant blue overnight.

I imagine the WH flacks are livid because they weren't consulted in that 22 hour grace period the press granted the old bastard, because they'd have spun it a little better than saying Whittington jumped in front of Cheney's gun. They are also livid because Cheney may have killed this guy. Any death within a year of an accidental gunshot that can be traced to health problems caused by the gunshot can result in an involuntary manslaughter charge.

I hope for Whittington's sake that he's only as badly hurt as the WH says he is. My fear is that they're lying, as usual, all happy talk about a man who may have been injured badly enough that he will never be the same, even if he lives.

letting an entire city drown....who needs to apologize?

Isn't this further proof that these idiots believe they are GAWDS?

Too bad a little hunting trip proved that Cheney is a mere mortal - and a pathetic one at that.

but I think Cheney DOES care today.

I believe he is pissing in his pants- finally - because his arrogance and his $$$$ can't save him from his own self-destruction.

Many of us here have been saying all along that these fools would hang themselves with all of the rope they've stolen. Cheney is scared; I feel it in me bones.

22. Another nice one
I did have to make a comment at work last night (in front of the lone stupid Freeper) about Scotty's freakin comments : "We should move on and get on with the people's business: health care, blah blah blah"

"Oh they really gave a shit when Clinton was in office about the people's business, didn't they? They didn't stop everything to investigate and pontificate about a BLOWJOB. I mean, no man has ever gotten a BLOWJOB before in this country, but we shoot each other in the face all the time, right? No big deal!"

It was a rant for sure. All it took was a Dem co-worker asking me when I arrived at work "Hey, feel like going bird-hunting?" She's in her 60's and she'll do ANYTHING to piss off the REpuke....

21. No he won't.
I don't care how much money that scumbucket has. He's incapable of living a "wonderful easy life" under any circumstances. Any average American is most likely living a better and more personally fulfilling life than he is.

Somebody--maybe Seligman--did a study of optimism and personal calamity. The researcher found that, while people were of course devastated right after debilitating accidents and other great losses, over time they tend to recover to the level of cheerfulness that was characteristic of them before the disaster. While some level of external comfort and support are necessary, beyond some minimum, actual happiness is mostly dependent on inner qualities. Cheney does not have these qualities. At one level, I feel sorry for him, just as I do for any run-of-the-mill psychopath. They will never know what it means to be fully human.

23. Spot on as they say
You can look at the freak and see that he must be in intense physical pain.

Overindulgence treats you the same whether you have millions or a few cents. Medical science can only do so much.

His liver has to be shot to hell, his heart is already shot, he has gout, and I imagine without drugs he would not want to live. See, he's treated his own body as he's treated the world: No concept of cause and effect, no concern for long-term consequences. Immediate gratification at all costs.

He is miserable and will be from this time forward. Don't let the sneer fool you...

I've read three books by people who've researched happiness (what a fascinating job that must be!), and their findings--and my gut--strongly suggest to me that despite his millions, Dick Cheney has never (at least in his adult life) experienced genuine joy, peace, or contentment.

18. But note who must be in charge--CHENEY/no question he's a liability
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 03:06 PM by Carni
If Bush were actually in control of anything Cheney would be resigning--he's not and it took them three days just to prod the fat son of a bitch to even make a public statement about his hunting 78 year old men exploits
(on friendly Faux no less)

JMO but this incident has signaled to me that Cheney and Rove and Dumsfeld are in control of this admin--bush is just an idiotic buffoon that they wind up and send out of the road while they plot their assorted world takeovers.

I see ZERO reason for them to have kept Cheney on after the Plame affair came to light...his polling numbers are the worst of anyone in the history of politics and he creates continual problems for the repukes--so why haven't they cut bait?

25. Honestly?
I think each of them thinks HE is the Supreme Leader.

Rummy thinks HE's calling the shots.

Rove thinks HE's the Number One Man.

** believes he is Gawd's chosen.

Cheney believes that CHENEY is the star.

The mess they've made fighting each other for power is astounding. But now, most of the country is disgusted with all of them.

This is the tipping point. IMHO :)

Everyone lying to Saddam and slithering around behind his back suiting their own agendas because they didn't want to deal with him!

You make a lot of good points about these clowns all thinking they themselves are all powerful--one hand never knows what the other is doing and they are all trying to outwit each other.

This would explain the spectacle we see on a constant basis with this bush reich.

29. My Republican brother emailed me Monday night
He wanted to know what the best Cheney joke from DU was. I told him there were so many it was impossible to choose, but I gave him a sampling.

He emailed me back picking his two faves and said, "I knew you guys would have better jokes."

I think you're right: his own crowd is sick of him. My brother used to go bird hunting with my dad and somehow never managed to shoot anyone. Worst that ever happened was we had to eat around the birdshot. As bad as this accident looks to us, I bet it looks even worse to people who actually take hunting seriously. The thing is, we can mock him openly, whereas they have to mock him vicariously through us or otherwise they're disloyal.

34. They had a big billboard here in TN before the latest Selection
"That dog don't hunt." It pictured a white fluffy poodle, and was a dig at Kerry.

The message was: "We are MANLY men, not fluffy little girly things. WE HUNT. We know GUNS. We are MEN OF MEN."

Now these guys look like absolute fools, because they trusted in these NEOCON wannable warriors. Cheney et al are like little boys, playing at hunting without any knowledge or concept of it.

No real man sees Cheney's hunting as "sport." No real man can be impressed with a geek who gets tanked and then handles a firearm so irresponsibly.

So the fools may have wanted to "have a beer" with ** and Cheney, but I'll guaran-damn-tee you they are right this moment thinking they'd rather go on a hunting trip with Kerry.

Happy Hearts to you, PA! WE saw your name on TV this week! :hi:

32. I don't know about that
By the end of the week, the devoted Repugs who are dispatched to every message board and usenet group known to man will have skillfully framed the issue to make the media out to be the bad guy.

I swear, I can go to two different boards on two totally unrelated subjects that happen to have an "off-topic" forum and find the same arguments, same anecdotes, same claims......all in a subtle manner backing the GOP from posters who insist on getting the last word on any Bush/Cheney related issue. It's making me sick.

And they do pay people to stay on those boards and pump up the poor sots.

My mom makes it a habit to torment the GOP idiots on message boards. She has the best comebacks and ALWAYS gets the last word.

Alas, I am only an infant at this game when compared to her.

Still, my social/work scene is a microcosm of the nation. I am here to tell you that my sample reveals that Americans are absolutely disgusted. The ones who were snagged by the GOP with this "regular Joe" crap now see that a "regular Joe" would have an entirely different experience if he shot his buddy in the face.

47. Cheney wasn't ....
.... very popular to begin with. The failed attempt to blame this accident on the victim is not going to work with many Americans. We all know the simple rules - if you rear-end another car, it is YOUR fault period, if you shoot someone, it is YOUR FAULT period.

After realizing that "blame the victim" was not going to play in Peoria, Cheney did his mea culpa. But I don't think many people are that impressed. Only the die hard KKKOOOOOLLL aiders.
