Republican talking points on Cheney shooting
BLAME THE LAWYERS

AND THE QUAIL

To: All GOP operatives.

Re: Vice President's hunting mishap.

Subject: Talking points.

As you are all aware, Vice President Cheney shot a man in Texas on Saturday, but contrary to a statement made by Al Franken, it was not "just to watch him die."

The accident occurred when one of the men hunting with the vice president hung back to retrieve a downed bird and in attempting to rejoin Cheney inadvertently put himself into the vice president's line of fire. Thus, the victim essentially shot himself. All the vice president did was pull the trigger.

Given that the Democrats, the anti-gun nuts and the bird lovers will be attempting to capitalize on this situation, it is important that we are all on the same page in defending the vice president.

So, when talking to the media, here are the points we want to be making:

The vice president is a man's man, and being such he likes to stop and smell the gunpowder - and kill himself a few birds. People who have a problem with someone relaxing in this manner are soft on national defense.

1. I'm still trying to figure out if the ad for "One Man Star Wars" is satire

ahghghgh, I can't imagine a more horrifying evening in the theater!

Years ago, a friend of mine and I discussed a deadpan theatrical version of "Total Recall: a One Man Show" featuring a pompous actor sitting in a chair flatly or Shatner-ly saying all of Arnold's lines.

"Cohagen! You got... what you want. Give dis people... air."

BOX OFFICE GOLD!

2. I hunted quail for 20 years
and managed to never shoot another hunter in my party.

I think there are many responsible hunters who can make that claim.

It has nothing to do with national (in)security.

It has nothing to do with being a "man's man", which Cheney is most defintely not, in this man's opinion.

It has EVERYTHING to do with being horribly irresponsible on several levels.

This should be the response to these whack-jobs. :grr:

3. The writer is being satiric
Jim Shea of the Hartford Courant is known for that...

Here is another bit from the article:
"Quail are not freedom-loving birds, and when gathered in a covey (or cell) are very aggressive and a threat to livestock, small children and our way of life. Bottom line: Quail are a security risk."

Or:

"De-emphasize the fact that Whittington was wearing a bright orange vest by noting that satellite photos show that quail in the area often sport their own bright orange vests as a means of confusing hunters."

8. no problem
I know the feeling. I'm not usually alert until I've downed at least 24 ounces of coffee.

6. Seems to be a lot of buckshot in the repuke's asses
Every post I've read on this on the repuke message boards has a bunch of people that said that they have buckshot in them from a similiar accident.
