Curious Question, break out the tinfoil
Does anyone else find it a little odd that Sherrod Brown, Uberprogressive Candidate, doesn't have a statement about equal rights in his issues list? Nowhere in this impressive list are issues that deal with equal rights for all Americans. Family planning for non-traditional families. I couldn't even find a statement on what he thinks about Civil Marriage for All Americans. The silence is deafening. I could be underinformed, it's possible, but didn't Hackett just come out right and say he supports equal rights, including marriage? So did Freshman Delegate David Englin of Virginia; look out David, you could be next.

2. well I let this sink off the radar so let's rap now
I'm starting to think there may be something to this.

Why aren't there any direct statements attributable to Brown on civil marriage issues?

Why aren't we on his issues list, even in the most general terms?

I'm being rhetorical - I already know the answer. Political Expediency.

Voting no on the state amendment is not the same thing as supporting same sex civil marriage.

3. He's a centrist running in Ohio.
He wants to distance himself from the liberals. That's just my guess. I am heart broken that Hackett is out of politics altogether. It breaks my heart. Time to write to Brown.

9. that's the list at the top of my OP
I would specifically ask what his stance on Civil Marriage for all Americans is, not whether or not he supports constitutional amendments.

I'm guessing he is the less "controversial" candidate and that's why establishment dems find him attractive.

10. regarding his email
from his website:

"Congressman Brown will generally respond only to e-mail messages from residents of Ohio's 13th Congressional District."

Maybe we're just looking in the wrong place for a clear statement directly attributable to Sherrod Brown. I haven't had any luck googling for one. That doesn't mean anything sinister, but I sure wish if he had an opinion that it was readily available in a format that indicates that all that other big long list of issues applies to all Americans, and not just the hetero ones.

14. Odd that he doesn't mention equality for gays in his issues list
this horse ain't dead yet.

"We" is all you heteros I guess, since us homos don't even get an honorable mention.

Just being a smartass, not divisive. Seriously though I believe you can be a "good" progressive and still end up completely ignoring issues that impact the GLBT community daily. "Good" isn't good enough for all of us.

15. That doesn't mean he is inclusive of the LGBT community.
I will need to know how he and every other candidate stands on this issue before they get any donations from me.

18. If I could recommend this a second time I would.
But here's a link I found.

http://senate.ontheissues.org/Domestic/Sherrod_Brown_Civil_Rights.htm

Opposed Issue 1, the state gay marriage ban
Q: On some social issues, particularly gay marriage, you appear to disagree with a majority of Ohioans.
A: Mike DeWine and I both opposed Issue 1 last year (the state gay marriage ban); so I think that's kind of a wash. The issues in this campaign are about family security. And family security means better wages, better health care, more opportunity to send your kids to college.
