This (shooting) is Cheney's excuse for stepping down!
Maybe it's been said before. If so, i missed it.

The R's best chance of retaining control of the WH in 2008 is thru the VP.

Cheney won't ever cut it. They need someone else in there. Now, i'm not in any way claiming that Cheney shot the guy on purpose just to have an excuse to step down (hell, his health would be good enough for that), BUT, now that this has happened and the media storm surrounding it...well, i'm just sayin'...

So, assuming i'm correct, who will b* pick to be cheney's successor? Jeb? Certainly not Neil.

5. Either KindaSleezy or if Shrub really had balls, Jeb-Crow-Shrub.
The Jebster is who they really want. But if they want to be keep up the facade a bit longer they would go for Condo. They could always say, HEY, if JFK could name RFK why not.

11. And they'll spin it as some big emotional sob story...
the big S.O.B. will be too "devasted" to go on....
and will "sacrifice" his position just like "jesus" would.

Meanwhile Lynne will be sueing his ass for divorce over the Swiss Miss affair.

The simple answer is usually the correct answer.... babes, booze and guns.
It's human nature.

12. I think Rove would pick Condi.
Let's face it. If the Republicans put a black woman in a VP, it would sway some (I said some, NOT all, NOT even a majority, just SOME.)black voters. If it swayed only 10%, that would still be a hefty hunk of our base, and would hurt us greatly.

Since the VP has no real power, their own base would not get too upset. If Condi ever had to break a Senate tie, she could be depended on (by them) to vote the right way.

14. Here's a likely scenario (imho)
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 11:10 AM by giant_robot
The shooting incident makes Cheney damaged goods. There's already tension between Rove and Cheney, and Cheney is obviously involved in Plamegate, so the Plame incident is pinned on Cheney. Shrubby swaggers up to the podium and makes good on his promise to fire the person responsible for the outing of Valerie Plame with his usual faux-cowboy style, and the presumtive republican presidential nominee for 2008 is installed as VP.

In one fell swoop, Fuddgate and Plamegate go away and groundwork is laid for 2008.

Not my dream scenario, but I think this fits Rove's tactics.

edit: typo

15. DUer, have been talking about this for some time.
About Cheney leaving the VP post, so the RNC can have a candidate to run as a sitting VP in the 08 election. This does appear to be a big enough problem to cause Cheney to step down, but what do we get in return?

I've noticed MCcain & Rice names come up allot, neither or good options IMHO. Maybe we should send the WH a list of names we would like to see for consideration. Just to let the WH know that a large group of concerned citizens are paying attention, it want cost nothing!
