From Democratic Underground to Yahoo News and Alertnet in 18 hrs!!!
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 03:19 PM by stop the bleeding

This how the missing beer quote was noticed by DU and found it's way to the AP, DU could be directly responsible for the unraveling of the VP???

Last night on DU a poster by the name of HsiKang was able to provide a screen shot of the missing beer quote from MSNBC's site at 10:20pm on 02/14/06.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=419433&mesg_id=426250 - post #109 was the original screen shot, but had to be mirrored at post# 132 due to traffic

Then Rawstory prints story and gives CREDIT to DU as well sometime between 11:30pm and 1:30am last night possibly because of the 2 emails I sent them between 11:30pm and midnight:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x426783

Then today the story made it to Yahoo News and Alertnet. - Folks this is big!! DU was able not only to be the first ones in spotting the missing info, but it looks like HsiKang was the 1st one to have the proof saved via a screen shot. BTW this was HsiKang's 1st post at DU:applause:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=428567&mesg_id=428567 - see post#1(yahoo), post#46(more yahoo and the Nation), post#49(alertnet) post#50(philly inquire mention another DU'er by name(JohnnyCougar) as the 1st one that spotted the change)

AAR also gave DU credit here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x429006

DU could be directly responsible for the unraveling of the VP???:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

on edit: had to change title from being found on the AP to being found on Yahoo News and Alertnet, please don't kill me administrators

my guess it would be from somebody blogging or investigating stuff on a website like this. The internet is the Woodward and Bernstein of the 21st century. It would be so cool if DU was the unraveling of them

16. MSNBC...
I had frequent communication with them during the 2004 elections. They did this kind of stuff all the time. I believe someone high up in the Republican party has the ear of the MSNBC bosses, who pressure the editors to remove or alter content the GOP is unhappy with.

I hope they will finally have to publicly answer for this behavior.

20. Good work. But "unraveling" seems a bit overdone. I doubt this'll do it.
Even if Cheney had knocked back a couple of beers, who can say this is anything but an honest hunting accident? After Armstrong had a minor stroke from the accident, it even quit being amusing to me.

not the AP, I rushed to put the post together while on lunch break, and I assumed that the yahoo article was from the AP. It will only be a matter of time before this is picked up by the AP. Sorry for the confusion:blush:

32. OUTSTANDING! No wonder Bush thinks "bloggers" are terrorists (LINKS:)
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x420629
thread title (2-14-06 GD): Bush Tags Bloggers As Terrorists
Comment/excerpt: “Homeland Security completed its ‘Cyber Storm’ wargame to test how our government ‘would respond to devastating attacks over the Internet from anti-globalization activists, underground hackers and bloggers.’ Given that homeland security ran the ‘wargame,’ one may infer that the nature of the attacks by bloggers must be national security related. And, given that the major national security fear of our government is terrorists, then it looks like bloggers have made our government’s hit list of potential terrorists.”

There is a DU thead on the extremely important BBC article on revealed program of the Pentagon "fighting the internet," but the excerpt given in the OP does not capture the true extent of the issue. The document was written by Pentagon officials in 2003 and Rumsfeld signed it. A pdf file to a copy of the document is linked to on the BBC page with the article. I urge all of you to read this ENTIRE ARTICLE. I'll be posting on it (again) in the next few days.:

US plans to 'fight the net' revealed

A newly declassified document gives a fascinating glimpse into the US military's plans for "information operations" - from psychological operations, to attacks on hostile computer networks.
By Adam Brookes
BBC Pentagon correspondent

From influencing public opinion through new media to designing "computer network attack" weapons, the US military is learning to fight an electronic war.

The declassified document is called "Information Operations Roadmap". It was obtained by the National Security Archive at George Washington University using the Freedom of Information Act.

(snip)

US forces should be able to "disrupt or destroy the full spectrum of globally emerging communications systems, sensors, and weapons systems dependent on the electromagnetic spectrum".

(snip)

The US military seeks the capability to knock out every telephone, every networked computer, every radar system on the planet.

(snip)

Earlier DU thread on this:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2071702
thread title (1-28-06): 1-28-06 US plans to 'fight the net' revealed (Pentagon psyops on Americans!)
This older thread concentrated on the psyops part of the program, which is certainly awful enough, but we need to realize that our lifeline through the Bushie propaganda and to each other is threatened.

This incident with the disappearing beer shows yet again how the US corporate media censor and distort and lie to cement the Bushies' rule. MSNBC has already been shown to be directly involved in deliberately seeking to sway voters:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2447578
thread title (2-8-06 GD-P): MSNBC Producer/Matthews/Scarborough Getting Paid to Influence Voting
Comment/excerpt: “MSNBC senior producer Mike Tirone is speaking on a $279 per listener conference call on Feburary 16. The title of the call is "How to Reach Masses of Conservative Voters with Your Cause, Policy or Political Message." Kind of transparent on its face what that call's about….So now we have senior MSNBC employees training conservative activists in how to use MSNBC to reach conservative voters. Nice. Though, I'm curious how that squares with Federal Election law.

38. Interesting take on it all. Where is the "AP" reference, btw?
I don't see this as being all that earth-shattering. No MSM bothering with it yet, and he admitted to having a beer at lunch today anyway...so that kinda takes the air outta this.

It's all very interesting, but I think you're blowing it a bit out of proportion to suggest it might "unravel" the VP.

Was the "AP" reference a typo?
