If this happened to a Democrat - THIS is what would have happened

Media would have constant debate if the VP is fit to govern.

Republicans would talk about VP needing to step down.

Republicans would be exposing the fact that alcohol was involved. They would question, loudly and often, why Cheney as a man with a former drinking problem would drink any alcohol. I mean the man has had TWO DUIS. That shows very poor judgement. Also, would be brow-beating for the wimpy nature of the quail hunt - caged birds released. Say things like, why did he need a gun? Why not just use a net?

Then, we would have the constant speculation about the fact of the two women that were not the men's wives going on the hunt in the first place.

They would constantly hit the fact of deliberate deception and press manipulation. Call for a full investigation into the events for possible criminal activity.

And, not shut up for weeks, if not months.

I say we follow their plan!

4. It's been my (unheard) battle cry to our elected Dems ...
... for five years now:

What would the Republicans do if this situation were reversed?

Can you picture that in your mind?

Do you have a clear understanding of what they would do?

Good. Now GO OUT AND DO IT!!!

5. Democrats Have No Plan....
That's why the continue losing. Repubs would have Cheney convicted of 20 different crimes by now, had he been a democrat VP.

Don't worry....he'll get away with it, because the democratic party wouldn't know a live story if it hit them in the face.

thing to do.

That can only mean that you are 100% correct and Dems need to demand some answers.

It's time to expose the utter depravity and rottenness of this criminal cabal.

10. You realize, debbie, that you're going to catch some flak
for daring to suggest that we give the Repugs a taste of their own medicine.

"We're better than that," they'll say.

"You'll become the thing you hate," they'll tell you.

"We've got integrity and they don't," they'll chide.

Personally, I'm with you. As Sean Connery said in "The Untouchables": "You don't bring a knife to a gun fight."

12. This ain't no blue dress - he SHOT a man

Anyway, the Republicans need a good bitch slap. They have the attitude that they can tromp over anyone and anything. They are fine with lying, killing, thieving...pick your criminal activity.

Remember them taunting the dems about Alito? What are YOU going to do about it? That was there double finger in the air to us.

A big fuck you.

UH UH

Fuck us?

Fuck them! We don't need to make ANY of it up. We just need to be merciless with reality and truth. And, show them that we will not ALLOW them to treat us like human feces any longer.

16. There's a bit in 'Primary Colors'
where Libby Holden is reminding Jack Stanton of his idealism during the McGovern campaign. After Tom Eagleton's electro-convulsive therapy for depression was ratfucked, Holden had said, "We've got to get as dirty as they are," but Stanton said, "No, our job is to keep it clean, because if it's clean, we win — because our ideas are better."

When she reminded him that he'd said that, Stanton said, "It was a long time ago."

Yup. It was.

and that's what I mean.

The time to be "better" ended in January 2001, if not before.

31. I have to say
I really don't like this kind of politics. I really wish there didn't have to be such nitpicking about every politician's personal life, but if they're going to do it, how do we counter? It's a hard call. I know I'm not feeling sorry for all the ruckus over Cheney's shooting accident and the only reason is because of what they did to Clinton. They had this coming and much more.

BTW You're totally right the media would have blown it up 100X bigger if it had been a Dem. Who can forget the scream? You know how that liberal media is....:eyes:

32. he admits he started drinking at lunch
he shot a man around 5 p.m.

real world he should have been promptly tested to see if he was impaired, as he refused such tests, then we can only assume that he was impaired and shot his friend as a result of going hunting after drinking all day

i don't consider this following "their" plan, their plans are based on smears and lies, our plans are based on fact, his own admission, and simple common sense and experience w. other alcoholics

no alcoholic stops w. one beer at lunch, one you start drinking for the day, you're committed to drinking

joe average who did this would get probation, prob. some community service, and would likely lose the right to hunt or drink for a couple of years as terms of probation, sometimes mandatory aa meetins are required as well

mr. cheney is getting off lightly by just becoming the butt of everybody's new jokes
