1. Talking about wiretaps
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 03:44 PM by ayeshahaqqiqa
and the importance of keeping the Constitution.

Says there may be a few people in the Senate who may know about the wiretaps, but all the people's representatives must know. National security can be hurt. He's not in on the secrets.

Talking about leaks-you can't trust everyone in the Senate, but also you can't trust everyone in the Executive Branch. Need to call a spade a spade so the Senate knows what laws to make.

Byrd concerned about the political use of the wiretaps. We can't go along with this. We need the people's help to protect our freedoms and liberties=

Ed says Byrd has a petition http://www.byrd2006.com Go on page and sign petition to have an independent commission to investigate wiretaps.

5. Give It Up Byrd....
Guess you might filibuster this one, eh? Oh well, too late. The repubs have pulled the game away already.

Maybe someday that A&&HOLE you put on the court, alito, will rule in favor of presidential powers and wiretaps. But you'll be dead by then, and we'll be in a full on dictatorship by that point.

4. Wiretap Petition button in Red at the
top of the column on the left-hand side. Click on it. I just signed it. I also listened to Senator Byrd say on the Senate Floor today that he was introducing legislation for an Independent Commission to investigate.

6. What A Hypocrite!
So, he puts on the Supreme Court, a judge who will likely rule in favor of executive powers, yet he is concerned about the executive branch having too much power.

Can't have it both ways you schmuck! When alito rules in favor of presidential powers someday, or even in support of wiretaps, you'll be long gone, so you won't have to worry about the shit we'll be living through, when this asshole you voted for destroys this constitution you supposedly believe in.

With friends like you, who needs enemies?

8. I don't know why he did that or why he voted for Bankruptcy Bill...but he
DID STAND with Feingold and Jeffords (who was a courageous Repug to turn to try to help us ....but Daschle sold him down the river).

Hey....we are desperate. I'm so mad at Byrd that smoke comes outta my ears...but he did stand with THREE!

I understand why we feel betrayed by him...but I'll give him some "teeny slack" because he gave the greatest speeches on the Senate Floor against Bush in the Iraq War Resolution Debates. So, not all of the "core of him" is Bad. I don't know if I can like him once again...but I respect him for standing up with only TWO OTHER DEMS....
