1. It's SOOOOO beautiful ...
... especially in the spring!

And so much to see and do. National Archives, Smithsonian, Lincoln and Jefferson memorials, Arlington ...

I went when I was a teenager (also in April, but MANY years ago), and it's still one of the most vivid memories in my life.

2. I went in september for the big march
and we saw a lot of the sights, but i want to got back.

I highly recommend the Holocaust museum, among others.

The Jefferson Memorial made me weep with pride in my favorite founder.

The Wall, The Korean War Memorial, all of it, truly awe inspiring...

I'm jealous...

3. Wow that is great

I went in June with my duaghter--wow it was hot!

It was a lot of fun and so good to do for her but the company we scheduled through were bafoons. They put us at a hotel 45 miles out of DC which translates to 2 hours of traffic--and that was the least of our problems.

Anyway enjoy the Smithsonian!

P.S. I went to the holocaust museum with our group and it was very overwhelming for that age (most were entering 6th grade, my daughter was entering 8th). I don't recommend it for anyone younger than High School because of the graphic depections and emotional feelings.

Some of the kids were really really upset by it and confused too.

5. Went last year with my middle-school age daughter as a chaperone!
We had a blast, but there weren't 2 unscheduled minutes to speak of. Which, I guess, is the proper way of handling 80 middle-schoolers!

The capitol was evacuated while we were having our picture taken, because some homeless person had left their shopping cart/earthly possession container at the base of the capitol steps.

I TOLD the cops that it was just Tom Delay's luggage....
