Bernstein on Larry King-TerrificTalking Point-"WHY NOT TELL THE TRUTH?"
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 09:15 PM by kpete
Bernstein has nailed our "talking point" on Larry King

Why not tell the truth about the shooting?

Why not tell the truth about Katrina?

Why not tell the truth about WMD's?

Why not tell the truth about Spying?

Why not tell the truth about torture?

5. They were on TDS and Bernstein was awesome...
Woodward seemed much more hesitant to bite the hand that feeds him, IMO...

14. Bernstein was great on Larry King
His questions was right on the money and to the point. Bottom line: Why not tell the truth?

(Okay, okay, I'm referring to Chimpy McCokespoon and his administration, but it's still a valid question).

24. I've been preaching this for months, but to no avail . . .
only the truth will set us free . . . but thus far there isn't a single American "leader" of significant stature who is willing to stand up and tell the truth . . . about everything . . . guess they're all too scared of BushCo and the inevitable repercussions if they speak out . . . and that's a damned shame . . .

I continue to believe that THE central plank of the Democratic platform in coming elections MUST be "Telling the Truth" . . .

unfortunately, it'll never happen . . .

28. Rep. Conyers does.
In the current Harper's, Lewis Lapham's essay on the need for impeachment quotes Conyers as saying why he did the impeachment inquiry even though he knows it won't bear fruit. He said the years from now, when people ask where were you? why didn't anyone do anything? he wants to show that he did do something, and he wants to have all this stuff on record.

But he can shout the truth all he wants. Unless the people actualy get to hear about it, he is shouting into the wind. We know about his hearings because we are here and we look for such information. But most Americans look to the MSM for info, and the MSM isn't covering anyone who tells the truth, or if they do provide coverage, it is in the form of ridicule, like the ridicule Dana Milbank of the Washington Post poured on Conyers' hearings about the election fraud of 2004.

25. because lies, spin and obfuscation
result in a lot more money and power. Adhering to truth often leaves you less wealthy. In our society today being truthful is equated to being a gullible fool. Smart people learn to lie well and use others as pawns in their game. The rise of corporate criminals to power is not an aberration. It is a symptom of our ruthless and exploitative business climate. The Culture of Corruption.

Americans who are being used and abused and lied to on a daily basis--are the only ones who have a stake in "truth."

27. They have cooked up so many stories and variations, they don't know
the "real" truth anymore. Which really is part of the RW strategy, muddy the waters sufficiently that no one can formulate and defend an opinion.

For example: mixing so much garbage into the "Bush v Kerry war hero" debate that the average Joe would probably make a random choice, or would throw his hands up and say "who knows?"

Things that would not stand even the slightest scrutiny.

32. Bernstein is like a spouse whose partner (Woodward) is cheating on him
this is the stage that comes years after the breakup.

Woodward is a money grubbing, shill liar. Bernstein is the truth, shining like the rising sun.

I loved that interview Woodward did with the brain dead CIA chief Casey.
