The discussion on Washington Journal is breaking my heart
They are discussing poverty and the Katrina disaster. The woman on now is telling her story of how she is displaced and has nothing left. The guest, William Spriggs, helped write a report on poverty. He noted that the poor always do worse under Conservative administrations.

1. Her story is the story of many
How sad, she said she left New Orleans with just the clothes on her back. Lived on a fixed income and could never make it through the month. Spriggs said after Katrina we had the opportunity to address the problems of poverty, yet we didn't.

2. Now, Mr. Spriggs is slapping down a freeper
Who tried to say that black women are having so many babies out of wedlock and that's why they are poor.

5. What are those poor people thinking? That they can reproduce
like rich people? Where do poor people get off thinking they can have sex and babies? Don't they know that is only the privilege of the rich?:sarcasm:

6. No doubt the freeptard would prefer they abort them...
and, sheesh, that is so three decades ago!

Black families are smaller now--just as white families are smaller.

After spending a couple decades thinking about the matter of "people having babies then not taking care of them", and poverty, etc., I have come to the conclusion that: the deck really is stacked, to some extent, against the little guy, and especially against the little guy who is black. And I used to be one of those who deplored "all this welfare", yada yada yada.

3. Democrats Must Try To Get Absentee Balots Going Now
The Repugnicans hope to keep NOLA "depopulated" through the elections so they can make some political gains out of this mess. With hundreds of thousands of mostly black, Democratic votes now gone from New Orleans, the GOOP is hoping many of these people get so frustrated/dis-illusioned they not only give up any hopes of returning, but that their votes will be diluted into heavily black areas of red states (Atlanta, Houston) and can be neutralized that way. Many probably are in a state of flux...not knowing if they are residents of Louisiana or Mississippi or their new states. I sense a big problem brewing here....thus the need for Democrats to try to reach out to these exiled residents and keep them as part of the process. I've only heard one person (a local NOLA activist) speak about the need to start now in reaching out and starting absentee baloting programs...so these people not only know they can vote in New Orleans this November, but that their votes are desperately needed to keep the Repugnicans out.

4. The Bush administration is not conservative.
The poor are doing worse under this administration because they are inept and corrupt, not because they are conservative.
