Unfortunately, most people don't see electronic voting machines as a major issue, Shit, television hasn't even talked about it, so it must not be an issue!

Hahaha, say the republicans...

When the republicans can continue to hold power and allow just enough Dem's in office as is the case now, they can keep most people from getting wise and believing there is a problem...always keep just enough Democrats.

Keep the Dem's believing the republicans won because of morality, gay marriage and that the Dem's are too liberal, (and the stupid democrats believe them, their enemy).

While the republicans continue to pass all their bullshit laws, legislation, spying and no one will call them on it because they are in power...we all know they own the media so that's out of the question...

And if the Dem's go to the court...the republicans are putting in their judges to say to the Dem's, FUCK YOU!!!!

But most people don't see their republican owned voting machines as something to be too concerned with...surely not in their neighborhood, some other neighborhoods, perhaps.

6. Agreed
It is Diebold and its touch screens, but they have other dirty tricks, too. Paper ballots are contaminated when counted by Diebold or ES&S or Triad or Sequoia vote-counting machines. Corrupt Republican Secretaries of State and other election officials pull every deceitful trick they feel they can get away with. Computer screens have to be thrown out. American citizens - not corporate America - have to count the votes. And it would be terrific if Mike, or someone, would do a film about the crooked elections in this country and the fact that * is a two-time loser in presidential elections.

8. But most people don't care about Diebold.
Most people do care about their own health, though, and the cost of healthcare. They care about jobs and poverty. His strategy is smart. If there's a documentary to be made about Diebold, leave it to someone else. Moore is uniquely position to put across a populist message, and for that to be effective he has to pick a popular subject.

9. agree
whether electronic voting is rigged or not --

there is a huge, undeniable conflict of interest.

If or when voting is rigged -- all else is irrelevant.

12. I disagree. He's the last one to do that.
Moore has been demonized by the right and they won't listen. And if the right won't listen, you may as well not spend the time, money or effort on such a documentary.

Most freepers believe that the e-voting issue (they would call it unsubstantiated paranoia) is just one more attempt by the left to obscure the fact (according to them) that Dems somehow have a worse track record than Reps do concerning election fraud. They will cite many instances of institutionalized election fraud down through the decades where Dems steal elections, never acknowedging those areas where they have done the same, and poo-pooing any arguements about 2000/2004 are bush-hating sore losers - get over it... Only the rare rightie, mostly members of the technical community (from what I have seen) will actually look at this seriously and agrree there is a problem to be resolved.

Michael Moore, however correct the information conveyed in his films may be, will do nothing to bring the righties to our side of this debate; and until that happens, this problem doesn't go away. At least not peacefully...

Along with Ellen, John, Robert, and Keone - I helped David Dill launch www.verifiedvoting.org in 2003/2004. I lived and breathed this crisis 24x7 for almost a year. The subject of how to communicate this problem to the public was a constant debate, a constant struggle, and there was no disagreement that the creation of such a documentary needed to be done by someone who was perceived far above partisan politics.

You need someone of the stature of Walter Cronkite or some such individual that has such incredible credentials that he commands attention and respect. Even an open-minded and respected member of the right would be better suited to this than Moore, if in fact you found someone who cared more about democracy than politics.

Make sense?

13. I agree, and it needs to come out before the next election, if possible
Most of America hates Bush, but as long as they control the outcome of elections, we have no say in what happens
