New York and New Jersey, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Miami
Anyone notice anything about these cities whose ports are about to be taken over by Dubai?

1. Um. All blue cities?
Though NYC has a (R) mayor. And I'm not sure about Miami.

So, no. I dunno.

4. Is a city considered blue if it has a Republican mayor?

6. Sure
in the case of NYC, Mayor Bloomberg is a RINO--pro-choice, anti-death penalty, blah blah blah. He's more liberal than most democrats.

10. Heh...it's ok
Yeah, Bloomberg may have been the first person in modern history to be both the Republican and Liberal party candidate. I voted for him on the Liberal Party ticket since I couldn't quite bring myself to vote for a Repub even though he's completely fine.

But don't worry--NYC is *very* solidly blue.

11. Excellent.
What about Miami, though? I think I've heard they have a Dem mayor.

12. I don't know too much about their politics
but I've got a friend from there who tells me that the dominant issue is still Cuba, so I get the feeling that Miami may be kind of atypical on a lot of levels.

13. Actually John Lindsay, I believe was both Liberal and Republican candidate
But then Lindsay was a kind of Republican that is more extinct than the wooly mammoth.

14. Thanks for the correction!
I forgot about Lindsay--and yes, they don't quite make them like him anymore, do they? Imagine any other Republican (other than maybe Bloomberg) who gives a rat's ass about public education...it kind of boggles the mind.

3. Exactly the same as the closings of the military ports --
Blue cities. Only with this one, it has the potential for SECURITY disaster.

But did any of us DU posters every doubt that the bottom line with this Administration is MONEY beyond anything else?
