Bush had to pressure Cheney to talk about shooting
Edited on Mon Feb-20-06 11:42 AM by ECH1969
President George W Bush had to press his deputy Dick Cheney to talk publicly about a hunting accident that caused a new White House controversy last week, Time magazine reported.

Bush told Vice President Cheney it was time to end the furore over the delay in announcing the accident, Time quoted a Republican Party official as saying in its latest edition to appear Monday. Cheney’s “reticence” to explain the accident frustrated the president, said an official who was involved in discussions between the two US leaders.

Bush and Cheney had a “quiet talk”, Time reported. Bush said he understood what a “crushing experience” it must have been to see friend Harry Whittington fall but that the controversy had to be ended.

Cheney shot Whittington, a 78-year-old prominent Republican lawyer, Whittington, during a quail hunt at a Texas ranch on February 11.

5. I imagine
Cheney hates Bush with a passion and dreams of taking Bush on a hunting trip. These are not compatible personalities.

6. Ha ha!
The best post I've read all week.

One can hope, can't one? Although I doubt Bush would go hunting with Cheney now. Even Bush is not that stupid.

8. Does Bush hunt?
Serious question; I don't recall ever seeing that he does.

So is the "rancher" scared of shotguns as well as horsies?

7. "Bush had to press his deputy Dick..."
talk about stuff you don't want to have to read...

Anyway, a translation: "The polling is in, and this is what America wants to hear. Thus, a fairy tale about how our Preznit provided calm, stout-hearted leadership."

9. No way.
That's a story planted by Rove to make Bush appear concerned and in charge. :eyes:
