6. Came down to lack of funds and non-support from Reid/Shumer.
Sigh. I've stayed out of this but have read a bit. Perhaps the Dems felt they needed to stand behind the strongest candidate.

16. No, that was my take, trying to find some reason
it seems Dems threw him over for Brown.

19. My opinion, two reasons.
He was less controllable than Brown. It was "Brown's turn".

8. I have too, some DUers think he's a hack (!) or even a mole but I never
really knew much about him other than what I personally saw him saying on the tube...

12. From what I've seen so far ...
Tweety - typical a-hole Hackett - very respectful of Dems while still voicing his opinion strongly. Tweety keeps framing his questions in "those evil dems" kinda ways and Hackett is very composed and positive about Dems and himself. I give Hackett a +1 after this interview. on edit prior to posting: Another +1 for tweety asking "What candidates do you support?" and Hackett rattling off a few names and ending the interview saying how BushCo mis-used our military! Wh00t!

17. Another plus - a few more Americans have heard of AWOL the Cokehead.
Even Matthews repeatedly saying there is no proof gets the idea out there a little more. Most people would figure the Bush gang would suppress any evidence, just like Crashcart held the cops off until he sobered up.

23. You're right in a way...
...but I don't think he's as broken up about this as some might think. He's been relatively unknown and this is such good publicity for him nationally, regardless what it is for the Dems.

24. Why would he go on Hardball to give
tweety ammunition against the dem party instead of working it out within the party? Remember when tweety was hitting him hard about his gun on the last interview? He could have brought up all the other vets running, but he didn't.
