I believe freepers are the key to solving our economic problems.
I have been thinking long and hard about the alleged upcoming crisis in social security as well as the greatest deficit in our history.

I have also been thinking a lot about the philosophy of being a Republican. Republicans do not believe in handouts. In fact, they believe if you are down and out you should pull yourself up by your own boot straps.

I have merged the two thoughts together and have come up with a solution I think will make all sides happy. Let us first tackle the deficit issue. I think we can all agree that we have this deficit because of the illegal occupation of Iraq. The right believes you should take care of yourself. We also have quotes from before the occupation that state that all financing of Iraq would be paid by Iraq. I think we should just march into their next governmental meeting and present them with a bill. Us paying their way would be akin to us giving them a fish rather than teaching them how to fish. It is time they were all handed a fishing pole and told to 'go fish'!

Well we are just ripping through that problem at lightning speed so let's see how easy it is to tackle the next problem - the coming social security crisis. The left believes the old should be taken care of because they have given into the system and they have worked their butts off to make our country what it is.

The right believes any money coming from the government basically amounts to a handout and they do not believe in handouts.

Who is to say which side is right? Who are we to judge what the right feels in the depths of their hearts? I say we do what makes everyone happy. As of today, anyone who is a registered (or unregistered!!!)Republican will not get any social security benefits as that would go against their core belief system. Anyone who is a Democrat will get full social security benefits since that is what we believe in.

For Republicans to fight this would be to put down what they peach that they so deeply believe in. I think this is the right route to go for all of us.

1. Sounds good on proverbial paper, but here's the thing about SS:
The neocons don't want you and me and the rest of us to have Social Security benefits as well.

It makes them put up or shut up. Then we can get back to a reasonable fix for this.

3. I'm not an economist, but...

I thought most of the deficit came from the tax cuts that Bush is pressing, though without a doubt Iraq's a big chunk of it. Even still, a big fat tax cut is still tantamount to government handouts.

As for social security, I disagree with your position. I realize you're probably being sarcastic, but we *all* pay into social security throughout our entire lives - it's not really an option. So it's not really a handout, just getting a return on our investment. Besides, I don't want to live in a country where it's leaders only try to take care of some of the citizens - I'd prefer they look after everyone.

7. It is tongue in cheek.
I do agree it should be equal for everyone but if they would like to renounce their hold on the money then there is nothing we can do!

I also like the idea of a government taking care of their citizens but I guess that is why we are Democrats.
