realize it yet? It is amazing that a)SHerrod Brown is running after all even though supposedly wasn't going to. and b)DLC and other "leadership" have basically torpedoed Hackett's campaign by taking money way, and c)in a fit, Hackett is looking at NOT challenging Schmidt for that seat even though she's ripe to be picked off

but still. must this escalate into a knock down dragout between the parties? Can something be done at national leadership level to mediate a resolution so this isn't playing out day after day feeding into public consciousness an idea that "DEMS are in disarray--look for GOP to have no problem holding onto majorities".

Listen, I'm a sore loser. I admit it. I basically am registering the past 6 or so years as having NOT HAPPENED in politics. It goes against my very being that the slimy pustule, BUSH, could actually have been in charge of this country after 2 elections. the 2002 midterms didn't help matters either.

Of course, I do believe there was some very strange stuff about voting machines in 2002 and 2004. IF those aren't addressed, we regular folks are screwd for many years to come.

BUT.............we must still fight the good fight. Tilt our shoulders forward into the wind and keep pushing. It doesn't help matters when the team is pulling forward and we're getting yanked from side to side by our own.

I say......ENOUGH with this drama. We certainly don't need a day by day saga update on Ohio politics. Let's ask them to solve it amicably and move into heart of election season WITHOUT the acrimony from that state.

1. That would be all good except one thing
THE DLC WAS NOT FRICKING INVOLVED WITH THE HACKETT/BROWN SITUATION. NEITHER REID NOR SCHUMER ARE PART OF THE DLC AND DO YOU THINK ONE OF THE MOST LIBERAL MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE WHO NOT ONLY OPPOSED THE WAR BUT ALSO THE PATRIOT ACT WOULD BE ACCEPTED BY THE DLC??

Sorry, I'm just tired of the DLC labelling of anything we don't like in politics. It's beneath us

2. I think that would be a nice thing.
It would be quite pleasant if everyone would stop defining our beliefs for us & just chill out on this entire situation. I promise not to denigrate the *** until after November 3rd & I placed the most notorious *** stalkers on ignore as to facilitate this pledge.

I will however continue to trash corporatist toadies & yes men whenever I can & to work for their ouster and replacement with good progressives (Ned Lamont!). But I am all for peace on this board & extend the symbolic olive branch to the many I have surely offended with my curmudgeonly ways.

3. I have no problem with wanting to support non-DLC democrats
I'm just sick and tired of everyone labelling anything they don't like in the democratic party as DLC when they aren't. DLC was not involved with the Brown/Hackett situation since none of the senators/candidates involved are members of the party. However, your choice to support Ned Lamont over Joe Lieberman because Joe is DLC and Ned isn't is a completely different story. We should fight for the best candidate in the primaries and the fight the republicans in November.

I'm just tired of the labelling. I mean, the thing we all keep forgetting is that John Kerry is DLC.

8. I supported Kerry wholeheartedly once he was the nominee
Right up to the moment he hastily conceded. End of story, I felt at that [point my obligation to him ended, in fact I felt he abandoned his obligation to me. I was very disappointed to put it mildly (but that is another story). I am well informed enough that I am aware of Mr. Kerry's affiliations & even if I weren't, this would be the third time in two days you have reminded me:) OK? I promise I won't forget!

7. Thanks for this.
The DLC is often wrong and has attacked many good candidates. They have zero to do with this controversy.

4. Do you support Henry Cuellar or Ciro Rodriguez?
Just because a a politician has a D after their name doesn't make them an asset to the Dem party. Rodriguez is going after Bush-loving Cuellar.

5. Yes, let us ignore the fact that the leftist wing, the anti-war folks
Those who want to speak truth to power and shake up the corporate controlled Democratic party are being forced out of the party, either by chicanery and willful neglect. Ignore the fact that in an atmosphere of overwhelming opposition to the war, the Democratic front runners are decidely pro-war, and those who are against it are either getting the knife or being ignored. Ignore the fact that the ones who truly control this party are no longer the rank and file, the people, but instead reside in the corporate penthouse suite, looking upon all of this from afar. And simply ignore the fact that time after time, the Democrats, when presented with a club to beat down Bushco have instead rolled over and peed all over themselves in order to please their corporate master.

Sorry, but we really do need to have this sort of discussion. Yes, it is nasty, ugly, and quite public. But we also need to determine once and for all who is to control the party, the current corporate masters, or those who were originally in control, we the people. A lot hangs in the balance on this one, namely if the party is to survive as a viable alternative in politics. Better to do so now, rather than later. And in the end, it will all be for the good.

6. Anybody who listens to a Hackett interview...
should be able to move on from this - like he has already.
